Electrical/Mechnical Prefab Design MANAGER
About the Position
Step into virtual construction and help lead prefabrication to new heights! As VDC Prefab Design Manager, you will join a rapidly-growing division, charged with improving quality, reducing risk, and accelerating installation. In this role, you will oversee the 3D modeling efforts for electrical and mechanical prefabrication drawing and support the unit rough book process.
You will help lead the way, by mentoring a team of Unit BIM Specialists within the Virtual Design and Construction department, while supporting project budgets and schedules. This position is also responsible for ensuring that our quality management process (both assurance and control) is maintained and integrated throughout the project life cycle. Position Responsibilities
  • Incorporate Power Design Best Practices into all prefabrication drawings produced within the unit group
  • Ensure constructability and quality assurance by utilizing knowledge of NEC Articles 110, 210, 310 & 314 for unit drawing layouts
  • Oversee the 3D modeling/drawing rough book prefabrication process to optimize drawing production and achieve cost targets and project milestones
  • Collaborate with the VDC Unit Production Manager to deliver timely updates on project progress through daily, weekly, and monthly reports and meetings
  • Oversee the hiring, onboarding, and training of technical and production employees to support short and long-term growth objectives, while continuously improving team career pathing and development programs
  • Stay current with VDC industry trends and best practices to support company innovation and growth, while continuing to advance your own career through management trainings and classes
  • Coordinate with the Unit Production Manager to develop and advance interdepartmental updates and monthly internal Power Talk sessions
  • Ensure compliance within quality control standards, process management requirements, and health and safety regulations
Here’s What We’re Looking For
  • 5+ years of relevant electrical or mechanical prefab experience, and Revit Certification (or) 5+ years of relevant professional experience
  • High School Diploma/GED, with a degree in Construction Management or Construction Technology a plus
  • Experience as an MEP Coordinator or Superintendent with an Electrical Contractor preferred, General Foreman and Foreman may be considered
  • Strong knowledge of the NEC and familiarity with IBC, IECC, and life safety codes
  • Ability to evaluate plans and specs, bid build projects, recommend cost savings, and value engineering solutions when applicable
  • Familiarity with Virtual Design Software platforms such as AutoCAD, Revit, NavisWorks, BIM 360, Fieldwire, Blue Beam, etc.
  • Excellent technical problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
  • A self-starter with the ability to prioritize tasks with minimal supervision
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to travel when needed
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word & Excel) and Bluebeam PDF
