Delivery Service Driver - Campus Catering (M Food Co) Job at University of Minnesota

Pay for this position will be $20 per hour, likely starting in December. (Your starting rate will be lower, but you will receive back pay for the difference in your salary once your pay rate increases to $20.)

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS (Education/Training/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Physical Requirements):

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must have a minimum of one (1) year of full-time (2080 hours) professional driving experience such as augmentation to DSD, or paid for driving vehicles such as a bus, truck or delivery vehicle.
  • Possess a valid driver's license, Class B or Class C Minnesota driver's license as required.
  • No chargeable driving offenses within the 12 months preceding employment.
  • Must be proven able to lift up to 50 pounds frequently.
  • Must be proven able to accurately perform simple mathematics calculations.
  • Must be proven able to read, write, understand and communicate in English.
  • Must be proven able to stand up for four (4) hours at a time.

** Continued employment in this position is contingent upon:
  • Passing Food Safety test during probation period.
  • Passing proficiency test in the operation of vehicles with standard transmission.
  • Maintaining a valid Class B or Class C Minnesota driver's license.
  • Reliable attendance at all scheduled shifts.

Job Duties:

The following list of duties does not include all possible tasks and responsibilities, nor limits the assignment of additional related tasks including tasks typically performed by a lower classification.

  • Delivers equipment, supplies, products and employees to designated locations on campus
  • Operates medium or light trucks that may be equipped with two-way radio, power tailgate through heavy metropolitan vehicular and pedestrian traffic
  • Ensures that complete order and supplies needed for the order are present before making delivery
  • Picks up equipment, supplies, products, merchandise or containers for return and accounts for all merchandise by delivery receipts
  • Follows delivery schedule and timeline set by manager
  • Performs safety and maintenance checks on assigned vehicles and reports all repair issues to manager
  • Completes vehicle maintenance log as required
  • Assists in training new Delivery Service Drivers
  • Completes daily, weekly and monthly cleaning as assigned
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Summary:

This position operates a variety of vehicles and proficiently makes deliveries of food and food items, following appropriate food safety and sanitation standards and all campus, municipal and state driving and parking regulations. Provides excellent customer service.
