Early Head Start Home Educator

Location: Redmond, Bend, La Pine, OR

Compensation: $21.46-26.76/hour-Depending on education (plus .50 for Bilingual Spanish) - Union represented

Hours: Regular full-time 40 hours/week, subject to normal school year furloughs (furloughs are approximately a total of 6 weeks per year)

Overview of Key Duties and Responsibilities:

The purpose of Early Head Start home-based program is to encourage and support parents as their child’s primary teacher and nurturer.

The Early Head Start Home Educator will provide early, continuous, intensive and comprehensive child development and family support services to eligible pregnant women, infants, and toddlers to promote secure parent-child relationships and help parents provide high-quality early learning experiences. The EHS Home Educator will design, plan and carry out developmentally age appropriate educational activities during a 90-minute weekly home visit and two group socializations per month, which observes all component areas of the Head Start Performance Standards, Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework, School Readiness Goals established by the program.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

· Newly hired individuals must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 prior to hire

· Minimum Education Requirements: current Home-Based Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) or comparable credential or equivalent coursework as part of an associate’s or bachelor’s degree. In addition, one-year relevant experience providing social services, promoting healthy growth and appropriate child development with infants and toddlers

· Experience in Early Childhood, social services, health or family support programs providing parent education and support preferred

· Experience planning developmentally appropriate activities for infants and toddlers preferred

· Education or experience in working with adults in a helping and teaching preferred

· Bilingual English/Spanish preferred

· Head Start or Early Head Start experience preferred

· Head Start or Early Head Start parent or past parent preferred

· Must have an initial health examination, and a periodic re-examination (as recommended by health care provider)so as to assure that employees do not because of communicable diseases, pose a significant risk to the health or safety of others, that cannot be eliminated or reduced by reasonable accommodation.

· Access to reliable transportation required

· Required prior to date of hire and thorough employment:

o Valid driver’s license

o Proof of current auto insurance

o Food Handler’s Card

o Current enrollment in the Oregon’s Central Background Registry

o Within 60 days of hire, Pediatric CPR/First Aid certification
