Position Summary


This position works as a Microsoft SQL Server Database Administrator( IS Data Services Professional or Senior) and requires education, knowledge, and/or experience in database maintenance and administration. This position is responsible for securing agency data and databases, data recovery, and data integrity in multiple environments including development, user acceptance testing and production.

We are a small team and our Database Administrator(DBA) has a breadth of responsibilities. You will work with our application development staff on security, complex SQL statements, SQL jobs, database design, and database code review and implementation. You will work with our data analyst on the creation, population and maintenance of the agency operational data store and data warehouse, and the implementation of reporting tools.

As a DBA, you will provide technical support for the management, control, tuning, design, upgrade and installation of Microsoft SQL Server databases. You will help review and verify the technical feasibility and integration of new database technologies and hardware migration.

This position will be filled at the Professional or Senior level, depending on qualifications.

Salary Information


The IS Data Services Professional position is in schedule-range (07-35) with an annual salary of $52,000-$68,640, plus excellent benefits.The IS Data Services Senior position is in schedule-range (07-34) with an annual salary of $60,320-$81,120, plus excellent benefits A twelve month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan.

Qualifications


Qualified applicants will have experience with all the following:

  • Experience writing transactional SQL statements.
  • Education, training, or experience necessary to implement and maintain database security and/or user access.
  • Education, training or experience with database development and/or design
  • Education, training or experience with database backup and/or recovery procedures.

Candidates at the senior level will have experience in the following:

  • Experience troubleshooting technical issues involving internally written software and/or database systems
  • Training or experience creating and managing databases in Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS)
  • Experience in SQL script or stored procedure development
