Candidates for this position are responsible for the management and manipulation of mostly structured data, with a focus on building business intelligence tools, conducting analysis to distinguish patterns and recognize trends, performing normalization operations and assuring data quality. Some of your responsibilities will include creating specifications to bring data into a common structure, creating product specifications and models, developing data solutions to support analyses, performing analysis, interpreting results, developing actionable insights and presenting recommendations for use across the organization. In your role as a data analyst, you will be asked to partner with stakeholders to understand data requirements and develop tools and models such as segmentation, dashboards, data visualizations, decision aids and business case analysis to support the organization. You will use business intelligence, data visualization, query, analytic and statistical software to build solutions, perform analysis and interpret data. In addition, you will work on predominately descriptive and regression-based analytics and tend to leverage subject matter expert views in the design of their analytics and algorithms.

We are an ambitious reporting team that works to solve complex business scenarios and are looking for another innovative developer to join us. You will meet directly with the Stakeholders working as a trusted advisor to help identify and design interactive reporting solutions based on the needs of our customer even when those needs are not apparently clear. Creativity and out of the box thinking will be necessary to provide solutions that will provide actionable information to different teams across the organization. You will use various data query and visualization tools (Tableau, SQL, Python, Alteryx, Snowflake, etc.) to access multiple data sources and design insightful products for our business partners. You will work with various teams, each with unique backgrounds and perspectives, to develop solutions.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Interpreting results from various data analyses, including queries, analytic models and operational processes
  • Provide story-telling and other actionable reporting of results to Consumer Engagement business partners
  • Uncover the true unmet need of our business partners, and deliver solutions that make it simple for them to answer their most pressing questions
  • Solve moderately complex problems and/or conducts moderately complex analyses.
  • Translate highly technical concepts in ways that can be understood by a variety of audiences
  • Provide quality review and sign off for new data queries & dashboards in development
  • Work with technical teams to review and troubleshoot reporting and data issues
  • Work with cross functional teams to leverage more efficient business intelligence processes / architecture
  • Document processes, best practices, and reporting requirements
  • Works with minimal guidance; seeks guidance on only the most complex tasks.
  • Translates concepts into practice.
  • Coaches, provides feedback, and guides others and acts as a resource for others with less experience

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of experience working with SQL, Python or other performing data analysis (or equivalent)
  • 2+ years of experience working with data in Excel, Tableau, PowerBI (or equivalent)
  • Experience in analysis, problem solving, follow-through, and resolution

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Alteryx development experience
  • Snowflake development experience
  • Project management experience
  • Predictive Analytics or Data Science experience
  • Agile and scrum experience
  • Health care or insurance data background
  • Proven creativity and solid willingness to think outside the box when building solutions
  • Intermediate level of database structures & design
  • Proven competent communication, time/project management, problem solving, organizational, and analytical skills

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
