REPORTS TO: ReStore Manager

STATUS: Part-Time - Non-Exempt; 20 / hours per week.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The ReStore Customer Service Level 1 position is responsible for assisting customers and providing the ultimate in customer service, serving as ambassadors for Habitat. They are the first and last smiling faces customers see as they enter and leave the store. They are friendly and energetic. They are dedicated to the philosophy and have passion for the ministry of Habitat. They must represent Habitat favorably within the community, develop and maintain good relationship with customers, donors, volunteers and partners. Attitude is key.

This position requires moderate supervision and has no supervisory responsibility.

SPECIFIC DUTIES (90%):

Primary role is to serve as a cashier to accurately ring up purchases

· Welcome customers / donors as they enter the ReStore.

· Opening and closing procedures for the cash register.

· Accurately ringing up customer transactions on the register, including handling cash and credit card transactions.

· Issuing receipts; hold tags; sold tags and appliance warranties as needed.

· Handle all Customer credit card information and sales data / donor information confidentially.

· Assisting customers by answering questions and enhancing their shopping experience.

· Answer incoming phone calls and answering questions.

· Help maintain cleanliness and safety of the sales floor and cashier work areas.

· Resolve customer complaints and ask for assistance as needed

· Successfully completing daily tasks at the ReStore.

OTHER DUTIES (10%):

Processing of materials-including cleaning and pricing, stocking product, arranging merchandise aesthetically.

· Address potential hazards to staff, customers or donors in an expedient manner.

· Able to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be able to effectively communicate fluently in English.

· Handling cash, basic math, counting skills, calculator use

  • Must have knowledge of basic computer skills.
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent GED

· Will be required to successfully pass a background check and drug screening.

· Successful employees will have problem solving and analytical ability to utilize time management and space management to juggle an ever changing environment.

· Communication skills and interpersonal skills are important for dealing with customers as well as fellow staff members.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

· Ability to stand / walk on concrete surface for long periods

· Ability to work in a warehouse setting subject to heat, cold, and dust

· Ability to lift 30-50 lbs; Carrying 20 lbs; Pushing 50 lbs; Pulling 50 lbs.

Physical Requirements

Seeing: Must be able to see to work safely and use a computer or cash register.

Hearing: Must be able to hear well enough to communicate with team members, donors, volunteers and general public.

Lifting / Carrying / Pushing / Pulling: Must be able to properly move and merchandize donated or purchased product in weights listed above.

Sitting: Must be able to sit for long periods of time.

Standing / Walking: Must be able to move about the work area and to stand / walk on a concrete surface for long periods.

Climbing / Stooping / Kneeling: Must be able to stoop or kneel to properly move / merchandise donated or purchased product. Must be able to climb a ladder to reach storage shelves / rug racks.

Grasping / Feeling: Must be able to type and use equipment and electronic devices.
