$15.45 - $20.55 an hour

This position performs routine cleaning and related tasks in and around Police Department buildings and facilities. While the duty hours could vary depending on the needs of the Department, the work schedule is primarily Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. with mandatory rotating holiday work. This classification is considered a critical position and may be required to work during emergency events, for extended periods of time, at the discretion of management.


Salary: $15.45 - $20.55 Hourly

Minimum Qualifications. Applicants must:

  • Possess and maintain a valid Driver License.
  • Be able to understand and follow simple oral and written instructions.
  • Be self-motivated and detail oriented.
  • Be able to work the required schedule.
  • Acknowledge this position is designated as Emergency Critical (EC) and if hired into the position, an applicant must be immediately available to the department before, during, and after a declared emergency and/or disaster.

Desirable Qualifications. Preferred applicants:

  • Have some experience in janitorial, custodial and floor care work, including knowledge of cleaning materials, methods, equipment, and procedures.
  • Are able to maintain physical strength and agility sufficient to perform routine manual cleaning tasks.

RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT

The successful candidate must be either a resident of the City of St. Petersburg as of his or her date of appointment, or establish primary residency within the city limits of St. Petersburg within six months of completing the probationary period. Furthermore, as long as the successful candidate is employed in this classification, he or she must reside within the city limits of St. Petersburg. This requirement is not applicable to current City employees who were hired before October 20, 1997.
