The Opportunity
WSDOT is currently seeking an experienced part time custodian to join our team. This position supports/contributes to the mission of the WSDOT by providing safe and clean facility’s and working environment for WSDOT employees and traveling public in DOT facilities. What to Expect
This is position is a day shift Monday and Tuesday, 6:00 am – 4:30 pm. Days and hours may vary according to facility’s needs. This position performs work that is inside and outside of maintenance facilities in all weather conditions.

Among the varied range of responsibilities held within this role, the Custodian will:


  • Sweep, dust, mop, strip, wax, and buff floors in offices, restrooms, and hallways.
  • Vacuum and spot clean carpets and upholstered furniture.
  • Clean and disinfect toilets, urinals, wash basins, and bathroom fixtures.
  • Wash interior walls and clean windows.
  • Keep assigned areas stocked with supplies.
  • Maintaining landscaped areas, sidewalks.
  • Remove snow from sidewalks.
  • Make minor repairs to urinals, toilets, unplug drains and fixtures, replace washers in faucets.

Qualifications
To be considered for this opportunity, the following are required:
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to read, write and communicate effectively.
  • Must possess the basic knowledge of cleaning and yard maintenance.
  • Must possess basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies.
  • Ability to operate cleaning tools: Vacuums, polishers, and other custodial appliances.
  • Must be able work from heights 6’-8’ off the ground.

It is preferred that qualified candidates also have:
  • High school graduation, or possession of a GED certificate, or equivalent
  • Ability to perform minor maintenance repairs.
  • (2) two years of experience performing custodial/janitorial type work.

Important Notes
  • Monday and Tuesday, 6:00 am – 4:30 pm.
  • Daily commute van available from Ellensburg and Bullfrog to duty station.
  • This recruitment may also be used to fill additional positions per business needs.
  • Washington Administrative Code (WAC) 357-16-197 mandates that all employees who work for executive cabinet agencies (which includes the Department of Transportation) must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
