Position description
The Mayo Clinic Critical Care Nurse Residency Program is designed to provide the knowledge and skills necessary for a nursing career in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). This position will be for a new graduate or experienced RN for a period not to exceed one year from the date of hire into the position; the position will provide high-quality didactic and clinical experiences needed to help you become a well-rounded critical care RN. A selection committee will carefully review each candidate's completed application and supporting documentation before the pre-screening and interview process will begin. Upon acceptance into the program, candidates will be paid a market competitive RN hourly rate and will be considered benefits eligible. Satisfactory performance at the end of the program training period will lead to an offer to continue with employment as a critical care RN. Critical Care program opportunities may include: Medical Intensive Care Unit or Surgical Intensive Care Unit. Relocation is offered for those outside of a 70 mile radius.


Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited, or those in the candidacy process, of a Bachelor, Associate, or Diploma nursing program, as recognized by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education
Accreditation (NLN CNEA).

  • Resume with clinical information listed, please include any relevant critical care rotation information
  • Letter of intent/Cover Letter
  • One recommendation letter from clinical instructor or current supervisor
  • Transcripts (only required for new graduate RNs- unofficial copies are acceptable)

Clinical competencies include: ability to learn and adapt to Mayo Clinic’s guidelines and standards of care, policies and procedures; patient and staff safety policy and procedures. Ability to function in a high stress environment. Understand team concepts with ability to work with an interdisciplinary team. Ability to multi-task, self-motivated, eager to learn new skills. Excellent communications skills are required. Stands and walks almost continuously during work schedule.


License or certification
Current RN license by applicable state requirements within program deadline requirements. Maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) competency through either the: American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or United States Military. Additional specialty certification/training as required by the work area.
