Position Summary:

Analyze financial and qualitative data on commercial and agricultural loan customers and summarize findings and assessment of risk in a credit presentation report which is submitted to various approval levels. This position also assists in evaluating the financial statements and condition of agriculture and commercial loan customers applying for credit. Analyzes basic personal and corporate loan portfolio financial statements for loan risk rating and monitoring purposes. Performs timely and accurate annual reviews to monitor credit quality and early identification of deterioration of credit quality for smaller loans. Analyzes such items as income, quality of management, market share, potential risks and collateral appraisal. Prepares loan presentations, which includes credit analysis and a summary of the loan request.


Role and Responsibilities

  • Requesting and obtaining all information needed from the loan team to underwrite the credit request.
  • Provides support of loan lenders and officers through financial statement spreading and analysis of new loan requests and existing credit relationships.
  • Complete a thorough, in-depth analysis of new credit requests, credit change requests, renewals and annual relationship reviews. Recommend risk rating changes when analysis merits
  • Deliver meaningful, detailed credit analysis while providing efficient, timely service to loan officers.
  • Prepare spreadsheets, reports, summaries and opinions for lenders on new, renewal and existing loans.
  • Maintain a good working knowledge of the Bank's lending policies and procedures.
  • Review loan files as needed to ensure quality, consistency and compliance with lending guidelines.
  • Under direction, prepares formal loan proposals, risk ratings and loan pricing worksheets which summarize the total relationship and a complete financial overview to include ratio and trend analysis.
  • Ensures all documents and activities are performed in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures as applicable.
  • The monitoring of the portfolio which includes but not limited to financial tracking and monitoring maturing notes/annual reviews.
  • Assist in coordinating the tickler system. Manage the files for final completion documents on all transactions, on-going financial statements, tax returns, and other tickler items.
  • Monitor all credits are risk rated, and that risk ratings remain commensurate with the quality of the credit as supported by file and financial information.
  • Attend loan committee meetings
  • Update rate sheets and completes in house Ag and commercial evaluations
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Strong interpersonal skills used within a team environment with emphasis on excelling in relationship building
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business documents, technical procedures or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, and customers.
  • Familiarity with computers and banking applications/software.
  • Solid understanding of lending products, practices, policies and regulations.
  • Associate Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or related field; or 2-4 experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in process evaluation or comparable experience.
  • Excellent critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Strong organizational and prioritizing skills, and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • 5+ years banking experience.
