Duties and Responsibilities (*Indicates an Essential Function)

  • *Completes mechanical preventive maintenance (PM) tasks throughout the facility in a timely manner, following written directions as well as using mechanical knowledge.
  • *Repairs equipment when an issue is found during a PM, based on experience level and capabilities.
  • *Safely operates various hand and power tools and powered industrial equipment such as fork lifts and pallet jacks.
  • *Properly completes documentation pertaining to duties both on paper and in a variety of computer systems.
  • Works well as a team player to facilitate the objectives of the Maintenance Department.
  • Follows verbal and written instruction and is accountable for his/her actions.
  • Follows safety guidelines (PPE, etc.) and demonstrates safe work practices. Ability to perform tasks in a safe manner, following plant safety rules, including Lockout/Tagout..
  • Adheres to the safety and quality standards (goals and metrics) of the organization while working within a team environment.
  • Accepts increased responsibility and is accountable for his/her actions.
  • Promotes job and process improvement as it relates to the department.
  • Responds to multiple assignments in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Overtime may be required, based on business need; regular attendance required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalency required.
  • One or more years of mechanical experience and/or training required.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision; self-directed with high level of initiative and strong work ethic required. Organizational and time management skills a must.
  • Must be able to pass a written, job related test.
  • Ability to read and understand maintenance manuals, work instructions and blueprints.
  • Possess the ability to react to changes of responsibility throughout the day. Must have the flexibility to respond to multiple assignments.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written and oral instructions.
  • Must have a full understanding of Facility layout, Production Processes and scheduling to minimize Production downtime.
  • Must have a full understanding of Facility utilities and services and how they interconnect.
  • Math skills to include addition, subtraction, multiplication and division in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent.
  • Must be willing to work on whatever shift they are needed, including nights and weekends.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English fluently.
  • Computer skills, including familiarization with Microsoft Office, is strongly preferred.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to:

  • Wear the proper personal protective equipment for each task, including, but not limited to, safety boots, safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, dust mask, etc.
  • Climb up and down from equipment; climb up and down a ladder and work at heights up to 40’. Maintain proper balance while working at elevated level.
  • Regularly lift and/or move 40 pounds. Anything heavier than 40 pounds requires additional assistance.
  • Ability to reach with hands and arms and use hands to finger, or handle objects, tools and controls.
  • Ability to stand, walk, crawl, and climb stairs regularly.
  • Ability to bend, squat, stoop, kneel or crouch frequently.
  • Ability to talk and/or hear frequently.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to work both indoors and outdoors regularly in all elements.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. Proper Lockout/Tagout procedures are to be adhered to.
  • Ability to work in the vicinity of live electrical components. Proper personal protective equipment will be worn and pre-work guidelines of work to be performed will be presented and approved prior to initiation of work.
