HealthRIGHT 360, a family of programs, is located across 13 different counties in California. HealthRIGHT 360 provides an array of medical and behavioral health services to some of the most vulnerable populations, ranging from primary care, mental health services, detox, substance use disorder treatment in both residential and outpatient settings, and transitional services for the criminal justice population.

Acceptance Place, located near Alamo Square in San Francisco, is a residential substance use disorder treatment program that serves gay, bisexual, and transgender men (identifying as male). Our program helps clients address addiction and related issues, increase skills, manage stressors, connect to supportive service, and build a foundation for lasting recovery.

This is a union position.

What we are looking for:
A registered or certified substance use disorder (SUD) professional who maintains registration or certification from an accredited California agency. The ideal candidate can provide oversight of the clients’ safety, able to assess client needs and strengths in support of their health and recovery and can facilitate group counseling while carrying a caseload of clients.

How to make a difference:
  • Maintain caseload of up to 10 clients and facilitate weekly individual counseling sessions with each caseload client.
  • Facilitate group counseling sessions, community meetings, and teach classes on various treatment-related topics.
  • Provide learning experience opportunities and offer clinical support to assist clients in meeting their treatment goals.
  • Proactively link clients to both internal and external resources based on their treatment needs and follow up on their progress.
  • Collaborate with each caseload client and other available internal and external resources to develop or maintain treatment plans, problem lists, assessments, transition plans, discharge plans, and any other appropriate updates in support of the health and recovery needs of the client.
  • Perform crisis intervention and communicate with treatment team as unforeseen situations arise.
  • Document any client updates and incidents in the facility log daily.
  • Perform periodic house runs to ensure and to maintain the safety and security of the facility.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and/or records in accordance with HealthRIGHT 360’s guidelines to satisfy internal and external evaluating requirements.
  • Plan and facilitate client celebrations and special events.
  • May work weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Attend meetings, training and development opportunities, and respond to emails in a timely manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What the position requires:
  • At least a high school diploma or equivalent. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Counselor or Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) registration or certification recognized by Department of Healthcare Services (DHCS).
  • 3 years of experience working as an SUD counselor in a residential treatment setting preferred.
  • Experience working with criminal justice population preferred.
  • First aid and CPR certified within 30 days of employment.
  • Knowledge of co-occurring disorders and trauma-informed treatment.
  • Culturally competent and able to work with a diverse population.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and internet applications.
  • Integrity to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Bilingual preferred.
Background Clearance:
  • Must not be on active parole or probation.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain satisfactory background check.
  • Must be able to meet health screening and TB test requirements.
