Position Title: Pharmacy Technician

Description of Position:

Assists Pharmacist in filling and dispensing prescriptions for customers. Assists customers at counter, retrieves prescriptions, rings up customers. Orders and stocks drugs, supplies, and over-the-counter merchandise. Updates patient records and inventory, process invoices, and makes accounting entries using computerized system.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

- Assists Pharmacist in updating patient profile and entering prescription information into the pharmacy computer to extent allowable by State law. Preserves patient confidentiality. Answers phones and provides prompt and courteous member service including answering questions at pharmacy window, directing members to product location.

- Assists Pharmacist in filling prescriptions by bringing stock bottles, counting, pouring, re-stocking, labeling and pricing prescriptions under direct Pharmacists's supervision. Prepares third-party insurance claims, to the extent allowable by State law.

- Orders, receives, tags and stocks prescription drugs and supplies. Follows product storage procedures and standards.

- Assists customers at counter, receives written prescriptions for Pharmacist, and retrieves filled prescriptions. Rings up orders. Receives payment, makes change, processes checks, credit and debit charges.

- Orders, receives, tags and stocks over-the-counter product in accordance with merchandising plan for department.

- Processes invoices and makes accounting entries using computerized system.

- Ensure proper clean-up, disposal and returns of hazardous materials.

Required Skills, Abilities, and Certifications:

Required:

- High School Diploma or GED

- State, National, or NACDS technical training or Pharmacy Technician license as required by State.

Recommended:

- Pharmacy experience preferred.

- Computer, math, insurance billing, and customer service skills preferred.

COVID-19 considerations:
Under the COVID-19 mandate issued by the Denver Department of Public Health and Environment on August 2, 2021, current Costco Pharmacy personnel must be fully vaccinated, or be approved for exemption, no later than 9/31/2021.

Education:

• High school or equivalent (Preferred)

Experience:

• Pharmacy Technician Experience: 1 year (Required)
• Customer Service: 1 year (Required)

License/Certification:

• Pharmacy Technician License (Required)
