MINNCOR Industries provides premium manufactured goods and services to government entities, educational institutions, non-profit organizations, and private sector companies in Minnesota. Our Mission is to provide offenders job skills training to support positive behavior and successful transition into the community, at no cost to taxpayers. We try to fulfill our mission every day with recidivism-reducing programs.

This position exists to provide direct supervision and training of Incarcerated Persons working in a correctional industry setting in Subcontract Services, manufacturing, and distribution of MINNCOR Industries products.

This position has direct contact with participants (individuals assigned to DOC’s supervision) and works within a Minnesota Correctional Facility (MCF – Shakopee)

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • A minimum of one year experience directing the work of others in a manufacturing, industrial, production or assembly setting
  • Experience in cost and project estimating to develop pricing, negotiate discounts and contracts, and resolve claims
  • Knowledge of manufacturing sufficient to demonstrate understanding of processes and equipment
  • Ability to prioritize and schedule work to ensure product is ready at time promised
  • Basic personal computer skills, including e-mail software and word processing skills, sufficient to communicate with supervisors, customers and vendors and to maintain records and complete reports
  • Interpersonal skills sufficient to effectively coordinate work with other departments and agencies
  • Customer service skills to deal with customer complaints and inquiries effectively and diplomatically and to ensure customer satisfaction.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supervising individuals who are incarcerated.
  • Experience with manufacturing, industrial, or production equipment.
  • Experience working directly with customers in addressing timelines, due dates, problem solving, and instruction issues.
  • Proficient computer skills to do order entry, Excel spreadsheets, and inventory management.
  • Knowledge of interstate and intrastate transportation industry
  • Ability to repair and maintain production equipment according to manufacturer’s standards.

Physical Requirements

The selected finalist is required to review and sign a Physical Demands Analysis (PDA) for this position. For a copy of the PDA, please email Shelley Rojesky at shelley.rojesky@state.mn.us. This position will require Tuberculosis screening prior to hire.

Additional Requirements

The selection process may include screening the top candidate(s) on their criminal history, predatory offender registration, offender associations and/or other applicable background information in accordance with Department of Corrections’ policy.

Employment history/reference checks, including incidents of sexual harassment, will also be conducted on the top candidate(s) in accordance with Department of Corrections’ policy. This may include a review of job performance and discipline records.

New employees will be fingerprinted within the first 30 days of employment.
