CarMax is seeking a Coordinator II in Accounts Receivable Collections at our Home Office in Richmond, Virginia. The Coordinator II is responsible for researching and processing new or escalated collection accounts to initiate the collections process. This work includes initiating written correspondence to customers, ensuring new accounts are entered into the collection system (CAMs) timely, and gathering needed documentation or research for the Collections Analysts. Other duties include performing various accounting tasks related to our receivable accounts such as applying payments and paying invoices, as well as providing exceptional customer service by resolving email inquiries. A successful Coordinator II in Accounts Receivable Collections must demonstrate strong teamwork, a drive to deliver timely, high quality work and a commitment to customer service.

What you will do - Essential Responsibilities
  • Research new collection items and obtain information and documentation required for entering new accounts into the collection system (CAMs). Key exception items manually as needed.
  • Execute required daily incoming payments processes to ensure timely fulfillment of receivables.
  • Perform general ledger activities including but not limited to journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Facilitate parts of the refund process for amounts owed to retail customers or to business partners for the repurchase of a contract. Process vendor invoices for payment.
  • Provide a positive customer experience through effective communication with CarMax stores, retail customers, internal departments, and external business partners.
  • Initiate written correspondence to customers related to collection efforts.
  • Work on projects as assigned.

Education and/or Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in business a plus
  • 2+ years of business-related experience required (e.g., bookkeeping, cash management, office management), including 1+ year of accounts receivable, account reconciliation highly preferred
  • Experience with basic accounting concepts preferred
  • Proficient level of Microsoft Excel required (e.g., Filtering, Subtotals, Shortcuts)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook highly preferred
  • Experience in Cloud ERP solution (e.g., Oracle) is a plus
