Coordinator- Family Urgent Response Systems (FURS) Program

One (1) Full-Time/40hrs/Non-Exempt/$27.30 - $29.40 per hour (DOE)


Pay differentials offered - must qualify through testing or verification for the following special competencies.

  • Language Translation - Bi-cultural Spanish ($1.00 per hour)
  • Bimodal Bilingualism - ASL Sign Language - Interpret from American Sign Language (ASL) to English, and English to ASL. ($1.00 per hour)

Under general supervision, the Coordinator for the Family Urgent Response Systems (FURS) program provides collaborative phone-based, and in-person mobile response services and support. This may include in-home de-escalation and stabilization services for youth (up to age 21) who are currently (or previously) involved in the foster care system. This program, and the Coordinator’s role also supports the caregivers of those youth who may need immediate support to navigate challenges that could impact their ability to remain together in their current living situation. The service that the Coordinator provides to the youth and families is trauma-informed and culturally and linguistically appropriate. Experience with mental health interventions, previous work with youth and families in the child welfare system, and/or in fast-paced, high-intensity settings preferred. Must be able to work a flexible schedule when needed including participation in an on-call rotation. Must be willing to work as part of a team to problem-solve individual and/or family challenges, developing a plan of action, and respond as needed. This position is also responsible for the coordination of resources to provide follow up and on-going support to the families, following the initial call. The Coordinator will be required to have specialized understandings (comprehensive training provided) of PRO-ACT principles, specifically related to crisis communication, crisis response, and debriefing strategies.


Education and Experience:
Must have an Associate degree +6 years related experience, or Bachelor’s degree +4 years related experience, or Master’s degree +2 years working with at-risk youth in a residential or mental health setting. Must be able to provide written verification of experience upon hire. Must have current full-coverage auto insurance, valid CA driver’s license, no more than 3 points on driver record and have a vehicle that is able to pass a vehicle safety inspection. Bilingual preferred, not required.


CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This position may work within ALL other agency programs, consistent with their scope of practice, on a as needed basis. The FURS program is directly connected to the Foster Family Agency (FFA) and the Short-Term Residential Therapeutic Programs (STRTPs) at RCS. This positions will work primarily in one of these programs when not working in the field supporting callers. In addition, this position may require occasional flexible work schedule to meet the individualized needs of each client and as part of an on-call after hours support line.


Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: CA Driver's License, Current Auto Insurance, Clean DMV Printout, clear background check w/ DOJ, CACI, FBI, CPR and First Aid Certified.

TB Test and Physical at the time of employment.


Employment in the Behavioral Health Services require proof of Covid-19 vaccination or exemption per California Public Health Officer. All RCS employees are required to either have documented proof of full COVID-19 vaccination or a Religious or Medical Exemption on file.
