SUMMARY
Provide support for the Counseling Department. Full-time, 12 months.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Serve as a resource for incoming and current students to answer questions, triage issues, and resolve problems including facilitating orientation and other events
  • Ensures the facilitates the evaluation and approval of various student petitions
  • Assists the Chair with problem-solving and trouble-shooting various academically related items
  • Assist with the management of the department budget, including facilitating payment of expenses
  • Assist with setting up interviews for regular and adjunct faculty as needed
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining the course schedules for the Counseling department, in collaboration with the SAU Global Operations Specialist
  • Communicate any changes related to established course calendars to students and the appropriate personnel
  • Responsible for annual updates to Counseling department documents as needed, including the M.A. in Counseling (MAC) admissions materials and the student handbook
  • Assist the Chair with the determination of faculty assignments for the Counseling department and the ongoing monitoring of regular faculty loads to meet CACREP standards.
  • Monitors the enrollment numbers in cohorts and sections and suggests adjustments as needed to ensure efficient use of resources
  • Assist with finding substitute faculty when necessary
  • Coordinate the MAC admissions process, including the screening of student applications, facilitating interviews, and communicating admissions decisions
  • Clear students for school and/or LLPC licensures based on established criteria
  • Assist CMHC students and/or graduates with licensure process with the state of Michigan
  • Monitors PCP process and paperwork and reports results to Chair for their attention and action.
  • Coordinate the administration of and report data for CPCE (Counselor Preparation Comprehensive Examination)
  • Coordinate administration of and report data for NCE (National Counselor Exam)
  • Assist the Counseling Chair with data compilation and reporting for various CACREP reports
  • Administer faculty and class assignments in Clinical software
  • Assist the Practicum/Internship Coordinator with clearing placement sites and processing paperwork through Sonia software or other technology
  • Be knowledgeable of school and agency counseling operations, in order to answer basic questions of faculty and students and refers questions appropriately.
  • Plan and execute department events
  • Attend and assist with graduation activities
  • Other duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises the Counseling department Academic Support I. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

QUALIFICATIONS
Good organizational, interpersonal, communication, writing skills and the ability to work with faculty, administrators, and students in a collegial and professional manner are necessary. Experience with Excel spreadsheets and MS Word is required. The ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks is essential as is having excellent attention to detail. Having a working knowledge of the university or academic processes, including traditional and nontraditional/graduate programs is helpful. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree preferred; Associates degree or 60+ college hours with administrative experience considered. Experience working in an educational or customer service environment is preferred.
