Do you love to cook and have a passion for working with children? Kiddie Academy of Corona is hiring a part-time Cook and part-time teacher.

As a Cook, you will help another cook to follow a menu and prepare both nutritious and tasteful food for young children! Essential job duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Plans and prepares snacks and meals in accordance with posted menus and nutrition regulations.
• Determines meal and snack count and distributes food to each classroom.
• Removes trays and leftovers from classrooms and disposes accordingly.
• Performs weekly food and supply inventory; submits list of needed items to director.
• Checks-in supply deliveries to ensure accuracy of order placed.
• Ensures that all state and local health department, licensing, safety and nutritional requirements are met; follows standards of personal hygiene, safety, and sanitation and ensures that other staff in kitchen do the same.
• Keeps kitchen, including appliances, cabinets and all inventory, organized and clean.
• Attends and participates in staff meetings, training sessions, and academy events as requested.
• Accepts temporary work assignments in the event regularly scheduled personnel are not available. For example: helps take responsibility for the classroom in the absence of the Teacher; assists and supervises children during all activities; counsels children when social, academic, or adjustment problems arise, if qualified to assist in classroom.

Cook Qualifications:

• Possess a Food Handler’s License or willingness to obtain
• Familiarity with proper conditions and food storage, the ability to understand the needs of children with food allergies, and to implement methods of food cross-contamination avoidance.
• Ability to follow nutritious menus and prepare appropriate quantity of food for a school population of up tp 160 children.
• Basic math skills required for measuring and calculating serving portions
• Two or more years of experience working with children is highly desirable in the occasion that help is needed in other areas of the academy.

Teachers’ assistant responsibilities will include:

• -Creating activities and opportunities that encourage curiosity, exploration and problem solving appropriate to the developmental levels and learning styles of children through well-defined interest areas.
• - Ensuring all policies and procedures to keep the children healthy and safe are being implemented.
• - Help lead teacher in developing, planning, and preparing instructional aids and/or materials for classroom activities.
• -Assist children with mealtimes and cleanup.
• - Interact with parents and maintain open communication to encourage family engagement.

- The requirements for this position include:

• ECE units a plus
• Experience in a licensed childcare center a plus
