The Cargo Control Specialist is a general title for Delta cargo professionals who handles all facets of requirements critical to the successful movement of cargo through Deltas expanding network. A Cargo Control Specialist will perform a variety of duties according to the functional work area assignment. The functional areas cover the Cargo Control Center (CCC), Day of Departure (DOD), Trucking, and Unit Load Device (ULD) teams. Each section is a separate, but interdependent team with similar skillsets. Successful candidates will be assigned to one of these functional areas but could have an opportunity to train in other functional areas overtime.

In general terms, all specialists will be focused on maximizing revenue opportunities for Delta while resolving internal and external customer requirements through effective communications across functional areas. This requisition is specific to the ULD Control Team.

The starting pay is $18.55 per hour. Additional pay increases occur regularly through 10.5 years to the current max of $37.26 per hour.

Summary of responsibilities (not comprehensive of all tasks):
  • Responsible for managing all aspects of monitoring and controlling 22K containers/pallets utilized to transport passenger bags and cargo globally.
  • Generate directives to support internal and external customer requirements along with operational metrics.
  • Communicate with ground handlers and airlines to track and return loaned/leased equipment.
  • Manage directives and communicate requests to move ULD equipment via flights/trucks.
  • Analyze inventory/allocations of 150+ stations to prevent and mitigate equipment imbalances.
  • Coordinate with JV partners and Other Airlines (OAL) for pricing and movement of equipment CONUS/OCONUS.
  • Communicate with ground handlers and airlines to track and return leased ULD Equipment.
  • Generate requests for truck movements in Web Vision; Create AC-12 for truck movements in Web Vision.

What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)

  • Demonstrates that privacy is a priority when handling personal data.

  • Must possess a high school diploma.
  • Should be at least 18 years of age.
  • Knowledge of Loadtrac and Luggage Logistics.
  • At least 2-3 years of analytical work experience required.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Demonstrated experience in working in cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of Delta Cargo operations/trucking experience.
