This role is for Optum/United Health Groups’ Research division, Advisory Board.

Advisory Board is seeking an experienced writer to help write custom content across health care topics for our sponsorship partners, in collaboration with our most senior researchers. This content will convey our most critical insights to a broad audience of health care leaders through multiple formats ranging from quick hit Q&A blogs to case studies to roundtable events.

As part of the sponsorship team at Advisory Board, you’ll sit in-between research and commercial counterparts to bring best-in-class sponsored content to life in a dynamic environment. You’ll be able to consult with existing Advisory Board experts to craft groundbreaking new content with expert insights from top sponsorship partners and name brands. The perfect candidate will enjoy tackling new projects and topics from week to week and work well under deadlines. Additionally, we’re seeking a writer with crucial customer service skills to adapt to key client success expectations.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with research teams and sponsors to write, edit, and coordinate expert commentary and blog posts on the critical insights and best practices in health care
  • Adapt existing Advisory Board insights into new content types while incorporating sponsor’s insights and data
  • Serve as an expert in writing for digital-first audiences, helping sponsors understand how to best reach their target audiences
  • Maintain client relationships by partnering closely with our Sponsorship Account Manager to deliver content on deadline and communicate updates to client
  • Contribute to Advisory Board events (online or in-person), by bringing exciting new sponsorship content partnerships to life on stage
  • Actively participate in scoping conversations with potential sponsors, in partnership with commercial counterparts
  • Act as an expert externally on trending health care topics while consulting with content experts internally to craft the content
  • Balance multiple assignments of various sizes and topics simultaneously, effectively managing time and priorities

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3+ years of professional work experience
  • Experience in writing under tight deadlines
  • Exceptional communications skills, including demonstrated writing and editing experience in a professional environment
  • Full COVID-19 vaccination is an essential job function of this role. Candidates located in states that mandate COVID-19 booster doses must also comply with those state requirements. Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in and knowledge of the U.S. health care industry
  • Experience in diving into multiple topics to write content where you were not previously familiar with
  • Experience in writing sponsored/branded/custom content for paid contracts
  • Experience conducting primary and secondary health care research
  • Experience building internal and external relationships while negotiating, prioritizing, and managing concurrent projects
  • Demonstrated ability to create, adapt, and publish content specifically for the web
  • Proven to be organized, task-oriented, proactive, and deadline-driven
  • Ability to work independently

Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, or New York City Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $66,100 to $118,300. The salary range for Connecticut/Nevada/New York City residents is $72,800 to $129,900. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
