Summary

The Construction Estimator is responsible for bidding structural steel and miscellaneous steel components for new construction jobs. The Construction Estimator will work in conjunction with the Lead Estimator and General Manager to ensure bids are submitted accurately and on time.

Essential Job Functions

· Utilize BlueBeam Revu and/or other estimating tools to complete bids.

· Utilize job submission websites and email to submit bids.

· Proactively monitor, track, and take necessary action to deliver bids on time.

· Coordination & Review with Lead Estimator and General Manager.

· Responds to requests from General Contractors for clarification of bid scopes.

· Completes scope sheets or other information as required from the General Contractor.

· Participates and leads the Hand-Off meetings to pass off information from Estimating to Project Management when bids are awarded.

Work Environment

This position works primarily in an office setting.

Physical Demands

This position is largely a sedentary role. This position may require an individual to sit at a computer station/desk for prolonged periods of time. The employee is regularly required to read, count and write to accurately complete documentation required for the position. Employee must be able to use hands and fingers to operate keyboard and phone and to file and operate office equipment. This position may require some walking, bending, reaching and standing.

Position Type/Expected Work Hours

This is a full-time position. Standard days and hours of work are Monday through Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. with a 1/2 hour lunch as scheduled with management. This position may require hours beyond the standard working hours listed above to satisfy job duties and department demand.

Travel

Minimal travel is required for this position.

Required Education, Experience and Clearances

· High School Diploma or GED

· Valid Driver’s License & Evidence of Ability to Insure

· Criminal Justice Background Check (state and federal)

· E-Verify

Preferred Education & Experience

· 1 year experience in a construction-related field

· 1 year experience in construction-related estimating

· Reading blueprints, plans, and details.

· AISC Steel Construction

· Background in common steel shapes
