A Day in the Life

The Compensation and Benefits Analyst will analyze, design, and administer employer compensation and benefit programs, including payroll, base pay, incentive pay, health and welfare benefits, and retirement benefits. They will assure compliance with Federal, State, and Local legislation. The Compensation and Benefits Analyst will conduct research and analysis on market competitiveness, pay equity, and compensation and benefit trends. Additionally, they will advise and make recommendations to management on effective pay decisions and monitor the use of automated human resources information systems for quality control, action approval, and data entry.

What are the requirements for this position?

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, organizational development, or business field
  • 3-5 years of compensation- and benefits-related experience
  • Detail-oriented
  • HR reporting and analytical thinking skills
  • In-depth knowledge of Excel/Word/Outlook and spreadsheet/data analysis
  • Knowledge of applicable HR, payroll, and employment laws
  • Ability to communicate with employees, managers, and executives verbally and in writing

  • Current CCP or HR certification (SHRM or HRCI)
  • UKG (UltiPro) experience

Responsibilities:

  • Advises and makes recommendations to ensure the ability to recruit and retain quality associates while staying within budget
  • Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions in compliance with applicable laws and accepted best practices
  • Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions
  • Determines and processes vacation eligibility while overseeing FMLA, ADA, and LOA accommodations
  • Facilitates audits by providing records and documentation to auditors
  • Develops, implements, analyzes, and administers:
    • Compensation strategy, including participation in salary surveys, benchmarking and market research, wage adjustment recommendations with management, and bonus and salary review
    • Benefit administration, including coordinating with the company’s brokerage firm to maintain a successful benefit offering, annual open enrollment, and regular benefit promotion and communication for associates
  • Develops, revises, and maintains corporate compensation and benefit policies and procedures that ensure corporate compliance with laws and keep associates informed of policy changes and benefit offerings
  • Oversees the Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) (UKG):
    • Develops complex report writing, maintenance, and delivery in IBM Cognos analytics
    • Maintains security, access, and workflows of the system
    • Oversees earnings and deduction codes with mapping to the general ledger
    • Maintains accurate and complete associate information and files
    • Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates
  • Manages successful interfaces and integration with other systems
  • Works with Director of HR to develop strategies for the resolution of human resource problems involving such issues as harassment, associate productivity and engagement, health and wellness, leave, and individual health and privacy issues
