Healthcare Staffing Professionals has an immediate need for a Community Outreach Coordinator. The Community Outreach Coordinator for the Trauma Prevention Initiative (TPI) Expansion Project will support the expansion of TPI services within communities of South Los Angeles. The goal of the TPI initiative is to reduce trauma visits and deaths due to assault, reduce serious and violent crimes throughout LA County, with an initial focus on reducing the high rates of violence in South Los Angeles.

The Community Outreach Coordinator will provide support to the Regional Coordinators, including managing logistics of stakeholder meetings and communications, developing systems to track community engagement, manage listserv, assist with developing meeting materials including agendas, handouts, and meeting minutes, and developing reports and presentations.

The position will start immediately upon acceptance and employment clearance and is initially funded through 6/30/2024 with potential renewal.

Shifts: M-F (Onsite/ Telework in Alhambra)

Employee will be working a minimum of 8 hours a day between the hours of 7 AM to 7 PM.

Job Duties

a. Work with the Violence Prevention Program Manager to develop and monitor a work plan for each of the 3 communities.

b. Identify, communicate and support best practices as they relate to establishing effective community led initiatives, and a public health approach to violence prevention.

c. Identify, engage, and maintain relationships with key community and government stakeholders in each community, including participation in local coalitions, community events, and 1:1 meetings to identify partnership opportunities.

d. Supervise a team of staff, including a Health Education Assistant/HPA I and a Community Health Worker, including co-developing a plan and designating clear roles and activities.

e. Provide contract management and programmatic oversight to for community coalition contracts, including participating in monthly coalition meetings for each community, providing technical guidance in development of community action plans, and lifting up community needs and priorities to system partners.

f. Provide contract management and programmatic oversight for Street Outreach contracts in the 3 communities, including convening monthly meetings, approving invoices, ensuring deliverables are met, and connecting agencies with coalitions and county resources.

g. Work with the TPI Research Coordinator to review and interpret process and outcome evaluation data for District 1 communities, identify successes and challenges to inform work plan for each community.

h. Serve as the lead representative for TPI efforts in District 1, including developing progress reports, presenting at TPI Advisory Committee meetings and local stakeholder meetings, and serving as the TPI point of contact for inquiries and partnerships.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university -AND- two years of experience performing assignments in public health program analysis
  • A valid California Class C Driver License, (or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed), to carry out job-related essential functions.
  • Able to access and operate MS Windows-based laptop or desktop device with a speaker and microphone and reliable WiFi/internet access.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Excellent oral, written, and listening communication skills
  • Computer literate and skilled in the use of MS Windows-based programs, including MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, interpersonal communication, planning, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a professional manner, with courtesy and tact, and work collaboratively with a wide range of disciplines, community members and county departments
  • Willing to work occasional evenings and weekends and travel throughout the County.
  • Lived experience: Individuals with histories of incarceration working in program implementation roles can make a unique contribution to the responsiveness and effectiveness of service delivery for these populations.
