POSITION:

The role of the Impact Manager, WayPoint Initiative (IMWI) is to manage the UWBG WayPoint Center housed in the Black & Williams Neighborhood Center located in the west-end of downtown Lexington, Kentucky. This WayPoint Center was the first of its kind in Kentucky and is the model for other UWBG WayPoint Centers to follow.
UWBG’s WayPoint Centers are sites located in and around the neighborhoods they exist to serve. Each Center provides a multitude of services related to a client’s education, income, health, and other programming related to empowering families and helping youth to succeed. Several of UWBG’s nonprofit partners have joined in and offer programming at WayPoint Centers or through warm referrals originating at the center.
The IMWI reports directly to the Director, WayPoint Initiative. The IMWI will manage the day-to-day operations of the center under the guidance of the Director, WayPoint Initiative.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Oversees the day-to-day operations of the center-based human services programming.
  • Acts as the keyholder, or employee responsible for handling operational procedures, assisting coordinators, providing customer service, and supervising staff and volunteers.
  • Schedules daily/weekly/monthly program delivery.
  • Hosts periodic Collective Impact roundtable discussions and bringing together partners who also serve the Black & Williams neighborhood.
  • Serves as the first point of contact for any client seeking services.
  • Interacts with government officials who have bearing on center funding or functionality.
  • Works alongside agency partners whose services are also offered within the center.
  • Performs intake for clients and connects them to appropriate services.
  • Collaborates with the UWBG 2-1-1 (24/7 365) Health & Human Services Referral line to coordinate services and referrals when necessary.
  • Manages a small team of staff, volunteers, and agency partners.
  • Provides a minimal level of direct services to clients.
  • Provides frontward facing customer service, and acts as an advocate for the community.
  • Drives foot traffic to the center by planning and conducting awareness campaigns.
  • Schedules and executes back to school events and other neighborhood community building events (such as cookouts, etc.).
  • Understands and is mindful of the opportunities to expand the initiative and serve as UWBG’s representative to the surrounding community.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s Degree or 4 year of related field experience in human services, non-profit, program management and oversight, etc.
  • Case-Management experience required.
  • 1-2 years of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Computer literacy, particularly in Microsoft Office, and reliable transportation is necessary.
  • Extensive knowledge of current conditions and history of the west-end neighborhood of Lexington and surrounding nonprofit organizations highly preferred.
  • Resident of the West End (past or present), or deep connection in the community highly preferred.
  • Proven management skills and successful oversight of social service programs.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong project management skills with timely and consistent attention to follow up.
  • Personal leadership within a team environment, multi-tasker, self-motivated and takes initiative, shares credit, and takes responsibility for actions.
  • Effective problem solver and decision maker.
  • Strong customer service skills and enjoys working with the public.
  • Self-starter who can problem-solve independently.
  • Is innovative and focused on the needs of the community and identifying service gaps.

  • Is flexible and willing to work occasional nights; Saturday shifts sometimes required.
  • Computer literate: MS Office Suite.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSE:
  • Valid Kentucky driver’s license required as well as access to reliable insured automobile to be used for work-related travel in the Central Kentucky area.
  • Mental Health first-aid certification within first months of hire.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The employee is regularly required to communicate clearly, in oral and written formats, with others in person, over the phone and via other devices. The employee must be able to transcribe, read extensively, prepare, and analyze data and figures, operate a computer and other standard office machinery. The employee must have the ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull objects weighing up to 25lbs.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT SCREENING REQUIREMENTS:
Any candidate offered a position my be required to pass pre-employment screenings as mandated by UWBG. These screenings may include a national background check, and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) review.
BENEFITS:
The position is full-time and exempt, with full benefits. The salary is $42,500- $45,000.
