POSITION SUMMARY


MEPPI's Transportation Systems Division (TSD is hiring a Communications-Based Train Control Manager to lead and manage the Communications-Based Train Control (CBTC) department. In addition, the successful candidate will oversee the department to attain Division goals consistent with safety, cost, quality, delivery requirements, positive employee relations, and customer commitments.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Oversee program management, engineering, management of subcontractors, site management, logistics, purchasing, and field service for CBTC businesses.
  • Collaborate with MELCO and MEPPI Senior Management to define the CBTC strategy and goals.
  • Develop and maintain customer relationships with Transit Authorities in coordination with Sales and Program Management.
  • Work with MELCO Itami to meet our customer commitments.
  • Confer with TSD Senior Management to plan business objectives, to develop organizational policies, to coordinate functions and operations between Product Lines, and to establish responsibilities and procedures for attaining objectives. Prepare business plans for presentation and approval of the senior staff.
  • Adhere to the Quality Policy to achieve and maintain high-quality standards.
  • Review activity reports and financial statements to determine progress and status in attaining objectives and revise objectives and plans in accordance with current conditions. Manage the budgets and facilities of CBTC.
  • Attend and participate in customer meetings before, during, and after contract signing in coordination with the TSD Sales and Marketing Section.
  • Collect/Report marketing information related to industry, customers, competitors, etc.
  • Approve all cost estimates for sales proposals.
  • Assist MELCO with understanding customer requirements, pricing strategies, and negotiations with customers.
  • Lead the staff according to Company policies and procedures to effectively achieve Company and department objectives. Develop employees by training, cross-training, and providing continuing education opportunities. Conduct annual performance reviews and provide input for salary decisions.
  • Support MEPPI’s Environmental, Health and Safety programs in all division facilities.
  • Further the goals and positive, professional image of MEPPI through interaction with customers, employees, and MELCO personnel.


QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with a minimum 10 years of experience with manufacturing, selling and servicing capital equipment and a minimum 5 years of management experience, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Advanced knowledge or experience with Communications-Based Train Control and/or railway signaling design and technology.
  • Advanced interpersonal, communication and presentation skills required to communicate and maintain positive relationships with customers, employees, and suppliers.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read, understand, and negotiate contracts and proposal language.
  • Ability to work in and foster a team environment.
  • Advanced computer skills with emphasis on MS Office and business system software.
