Collections Specialist

Full-time | Accounting & Finance | Location – Olathe, KS, 66022

Protects the company’s assets by investigating financial status of customers and potential customers; approving credit; and making collection calls to customers that are 30+ days past due.

YOUR ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Identify delinquent accounts, by running aging reports
• Call customers accounts payable position to determine when payment will be made on past due invoices.
• Determine when a customer needs to be turned over for collection to an outside agency and forwards to the agency.
• Investigate misapplied payments and make corrections.
• Investigate documentation to determine if Customer Service needs to get involved and to issue credit.
• Approve or reject credit applications by studying the customer's application, verifying financial status, evaluating reputation of applicant, then setting a credit limit.

HOW TO SUCCEED

• 1-3 years experience in commercial collections
• Understanding of accounts receivable
• Able to follow internal accounting codes

• Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
