Los Angeles Cancer Network is seeking a Board-Certified Clinical Oncology Pharmacist to join our extensive, well-established physician group practice in Glendale, CA.

With ten offices (and growing) located throughout Los Angeles and the surrounding areas, you can find convenient and thoughtful care and guidance in blood disorders and cancer care from the most devoted team of medical professionals. Our mission is to provide compassionate, individualized treatment using the most recent proven advances in cancer care through clinical research, early detection, and innovative treatment to provide education and support to our patients and their families. The practice offers Hematology/Medical Oncology and Clinical trial & Research Programs.


About the Role

Responsible for day-to-day activities involving both clinical and operational aspects of pharmaceutical services, including drug verification and distribution, patient consultation, physician collaboration, drug and therapy monitoring, utilization management, and supervision.


Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with hematologists/oncologists, advanced practice providers, and other clinical staff to provide patients with individualized treatments utilizing the most recent and relevant evidence.
  • Review chemo- and immunotherapy orders for accuracy, appropriateness, and completeness.
  • Evaluate and interpret drug-related Recommend dose adjustment, addition, or discontinuation of medication(s) as appropriate.
  • Identifies, resolves, and prevents medication-related problems, including subtherapeutic dosage, overdose, drug-drug interactions, drug-disease interactions, adverse reactions, inaccuracies, and inappropriateness.
  • Drug utilization management.
  • Conduct comprehensive medication review and/or medication reconciliation.
  • Comprehensive evaluation of patient medical records, to provide proper patient counseling.
  • Research and answer drug inquiries.
  • Process new and refill therapies.
  • Final verification of medications before distribution to infusion centers.
  • Oversee pharmacy technician and staff activities.
  • Ensure proper storage of medications.
  • Document appropriately in patient medical records.
  • Uphold organization policies, as well as federal, state, and local laws.
  • Collaborate with all organizational staff.
  • Perform other duties as required.

  • Ability to enter data to keep electronic records.
  • Ability to perform light lifting and repetitious physical activity.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong people skills for daily management of staff and customer interactions.
  • Project management with an emphasis on detail and follow-through.
  • Ability to work with high-level executives and clinicians as well as the skills to develop effective working relationships with staff in various departments.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team, excellent coaching skills.

Education and Experience:

  • Graduate of an accredited Pharmacy School with a Pharm.D. Current and unrestricted Pharmacist license issued by the California State Board of Pharmacy.
  • Currently holds or is eligible to obtain California Advanced Practice Pharmacist (APh) licensure within 90 days of hire.
  • Must meet ONE of the following:
  • Board Certified Oncology Pharmacist (BCOP); or
  • Completed PGY2 Oncology Residency and eligible for BCOP (must pass the BPS Oncology Pharmacy Certification examination within 90 days of hire); or
  • Completed PGY1 Pharmacy Residency + two (2) years of Clinical Oncology Pharmacy experience (must pass the BPS Oncology Pharmacy Certification examination within 90 days of hire); or
  • No residency, but at least four (4) years of Clinical Oncology Pharmacy experience (must pass the BPS Oncology Pharmacy Certification examination within 90 days of hire)
