Client Support & Training Specialist
This position has a split focus with 50% as an Autism Intervention Service Provider and 50% as an Autism Intervention Trainer. Autism Intervention Service Provider provides services in the KCART Bridge Clinic. The Bridge Clinic is a first step in treatment following a child's autism diagnosis. This clinic provides short term behavioral intervention services for children ages 2-6 years with an autism spectrum disorder. Provider will implement one on one ABA therapy under the supervision of a BCBA. Provider will work with families to help provide a jump start into early intervention until they connect with a long- term service provider in their area.
Autism Intervention Trainer provides training to service providers in behavior analysis, criterion referenced assessments and autism interventions. The primary purpose of this project is to provide evidence-based training in specific behavioral techniques shown to be effective at increasing skills as well as addressing the challenging behaviors typically seen in this population (aggression and/or self-stimulatory behaviors). Service providers will include individuals providing autism services for Kansas State Medicaid recipients, private insurance beneficiaries or private pay families.

Job Description:
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in early childhood education, behavior analysis, psychology, language, or related field.
At minimum 3 years supervised work experience with children using the principles of applied behavior analysis.
A minimum of 1 year of experience working with children with autism.
A minimum of 1 year of experience working with families in home and/or community-based settings.
A minimum of 6 months of experience conducting child observations and assessments.
Demonstrated experience organizing and conducting trainings and other presentations.
Demonstrated experience with quality work production.
Ability to change behavior based on feedback.
The ability to obtain University of Kansas Health System designated credentialing within the first 4 months of employment. To accomplish this the University of Kansas Health System must receive proof from your prior employer(s) verifying previous employment, dates of employment and eligibility for re-hire.

Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in early childhood education, behavior analysis, psychology, language or related field.
At minimum 3 years of experience training service providers to work with children with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
Proficiency with Word and/or other word processing programs.
Experience conducting interventions or research with children with autism.
Experience collaborating with families and children with disabilities.
Data analysis experience (SPSS, Excel, etc.).
Strong written and oral communication skills as evidenced in work history.
Strong organizational and planning skills as evidenced in work history.

Job Duties Outlined:
50% Autism Intervention Service Provider:
Provide 1:1 discrete trial teaching: spending time with the client and teaching him/her new skills in a number of different areas including receptive/expressive language, social skills, gross/fine motor skills, and self-help skills.

Assist with conducting assessments (e.g. VB-MAPP): sitting with the client and determining whether or not he/she is able to conduct certain tasks.

Manage inappropriate behaviors: following the procedures in a function-based behavior intervention plan written by your BCaBA/BCBA.

Record and monitor child's data: recording the behavior of the child on data sheets that will be provided for you and graphing the data.

Consult with supervisor for behavior and programming issues: staying in close contact with your BCaBA and BCBA to report on changes in a child's behavior and to discuss changes in procedures regarding behavior management and skill acquisition.

Attend staff meetings: when required, attending meetings held by the department or university that pertain to you.

50% Autism Intervention Trainer:
Provide training for service providers and assist in recruiting service provider.

Assist in obtaining the child consents for participation.

Prepare for training by creating materials, helping trainees register, and preparing materials for children's programming.

Provide ongoing monitoring and coaching to service providers in use of the strategies taught during training via video and in person feedback.

Conduct assessments of service providers in the application of targeted skills.
