DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:

Job Purpose:
The CIM Program Specialist is responsible for developing, planning and implementing program activities for the Cambridge in Motion Initiative (CIM) and the Healthy Eating Active Living Unit of the Public Health Department, with a focus on Active Living, Active Transportation and communications, including working in collaboration with CPHD staff and community partners to ensure completion of the CIM and Community Health Improvement work plans, leading and participating in partner coalitions, implementing CIM communications, outreach campaigns, and ensuring grant deliverables are on schedule.

S ummary:
  • Under the supervision from the Manager, Nutrition Program Services, the CIM Program Specialist is responsible for developing, planning and implementing program activities for the Cambridge in Motion Initiative (CIM) and the Healthy Eating Active Living Unit of the Public Health Department, including working in collaboration with CPHD staff and community partners to ensure completion of the CIM and Community Health Improvement work plans, implement CIM communications and Mass in Motion grant deliverables on schedule.
J ob - Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
Build and work with Cambridge partners and the Healthy Eating Active Living unit to develop and implement policy, systems, and environmental changes that make it easier to eat healthy and be physically active.

Coordinate with the City on Active Living projects, including assessment, community engagement, promotion of active transportation and recreation in Cambridge, including development of outreach materials, and participation in coalitions/partnerships to revise and support implementation of related policy and programs (ex: Safe Routes to School, Vision Zero, Blue bikes enrollment, Cycling for Older Adults).
Coordinate the Cambridge Food Resource Guide. Build and maintain relationships with program contacts, maintain centralized database with updated program information, disseminate the guide on a regular schedule, and arrange for translations as needed.
Coordinate the Healthy Markets Program to increase the accessibility of healthy food by growing the number of food retail stores that accept SNAP/WIC benefits, and by working with store owners to provide technical assistance for offering fresh and healthy grocery items.
Lead the Cambridge Tap Water Task including planning strategy, schedule and lead meetings, coordinate tap water messaging for outreach campaigns, support the expansion of citywide infrastructure (bottle fillers, etc.), and distribute and track water pitchers and stickers.
Lead the SNAP Match Coalition, including planning strategy, scheduling and leading meetings with coalition partners, track and report on financial status, and coordinate internal and external communications.
Coordinate, develop materials, and disseminate Cambridge in Motion communication channels, including Twitter, email Listserve, and webpages.
Coordinate events and volunteers, including recruiting and scheduling staff/volunteers for events.
Participate and lead other coalition meetings as needed such as Food and Fitness Policy Council, Tap Water Task Force, and the School Wellness Council.
Develop and update systems to track and report deliverables and milestones for HEAL Unit, such as, grants and Community Health Improvement Plan. Write reports as needed.
Participate in department planning initiatives, including the Community Health Improvement Plan and the Strategic Plan. Participate in and co-lead as requested.
Lead and collaborate on other CIM initiatives and grant-related tasks and research as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Other information:
  • Education/Training:
Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Nutrition, Urban Planning or related field. Masters’ degree preferred.
  • Work Experience:
Two years of related experience preferred
