Overview:
Reporting to the General Manager, the Chief of Staff oversees and manages the critical operational and strategic responsibilities of the senior management team.

The Chief of Staff will embody the company’s core values and understand the company’s culture in order to serve as the right-hand and trusted partner to the General Manager while being a valuable asset to the whole senior leadership team. He/she will be discrete, agile-minded, strategic, proactive, a direct communicator, careful listener, highly organized, and committed to the growth and success of the business. The ideal candidate will be capable of functioning not only on an executive and strategic level, but also at an operational and tactical level. The Chief of Staff will work effectively with senior leadership, internal teams, and external parties to advance the day-to-day operations and the strategic initiatives of the business.

The Chief of Staff will have the right balance of humility and self-confidence to be able to juggle the many facets of this position, while also effectively managing change in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.
Responsibilities:
Advisor
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the General Manager, representing him in high-level meetings and discussions, and ensuring clear action items and follow-through
  • Ability to create, review, understand and discuss financial and business documents
  • Support the needs of the leadership team in their ability to raise critical issues with the General Manager and receive needed responses, guidance, and decisions to keep the work of the businesses flowing smoothly while keeping the General Manager informed in a timely manner
  • Elevate issues about which the General Manager should be aware, and offer ideas to resolve issues and mitigate risk
  • Produce scheduled and ad-hoc reporting on key business metrics to inform the leadership team on the health of the business
  • Conduct financial and strategic analyses to inform capital asset purchase decisions, business expansion opportunities, acquisition opportunities, and long-term business planning exercises. Ability to develop polished presentations catered to varying audiences to report the findings of analyses.
Facilitator
  • Provide oversight on time-sensitive issues and high-impact initiatives that may be cross-functional or cross-regional
  • Lead and deliver special projects and ad-hoc requests to support the General Manager while driving work forward across the senior leadership team and stakeholder groups
  • Organize and prioritize critical issues and required information for the General Manager to facilitate efficient decision-making
  • Maintain a pulse on the business and help connect dots with others across the organization
  • Oversee daily operations through collaboration with department leaders, performing an array of administrative tasks from managing calendars to generating correspondences
  • Build and develop relationships with all employees of the company for increased efficiency and effective responsiveness into existing operations
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree required. Business related degree preferred.
  • 5+ years in a business management role. Strategy and consulting experience preferred.
  • Broad strategic business experience driving execution and achieving strategic outcomes
  • Intellectual curiosity, strong work ethic and problem-solving skills
  • Prior experience balancing competing issues, prioritization of needs, and escalation management
  • Mission-driven, culture-focused, and passionate about carrying out an organization’s vision and long-term strategy
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask and quickly shift context and priorities
  • Strong flexibility to seamlessly react to changes in priorities and new requests while maintaining existing commitments
  • Demonstrated polished communication and relationship building to interact, inform, influence, and communicate with key stakeholders at all levels across the company
Working Conditions:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time; talk or hear; perform fine motor, hand and finger skills in the use of a keyboard, telephone, or writing. The employee is frequently required to stands; walk; and reach with arms and/or hands. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The employee will spend their time in an office environment with a quiet to moderate noise level. Job site walking.
