Essential Responsibilities:

  • Supervises, develops and maintains an ongoing maintenance operation for hotel, including refrigeration, heating, plumbing, water treatment, preventive maintenance, hotel rooms, A/H units, ice machines, swimming pools, lighting, kitchen equipment, emergency generators, water softeners, switch rooms, roof exhausts, electrical substations, etc.
  • Ensure work conforms to accepted practices and codes.
  • Collaborate on the creation, management and operation within departmental budget and expense plans.
  • Adhere to capital expense standard operating procedures.
  • Ensures all projects are completed according to specifications and are completed on time and on budget.
  • Manage and direct Safety program.
  • Works closely with Executive Housekeeper, Front Office Manager, and Sales team to ensure coordination of activities and AV needs.
  • Assists in overall security of the hotel, including door locks, key security, asset protection, and enforcing all safety policies and procedures.
  • Aids and instructs vendors and team members in scheduling work, ordering material and completing assignment by a specified date.
  • Familiarize self with blueprints, contracts, and contractors.
  • Interprets specifications, job orders and company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.
  • Leads and motivates team to assist guests and resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Recommends or initiates actions, such as training, promotions, transfers, coaching and progressive disciplinary measures.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation of all systems and equipment.
  • May estimate, requisition and inspect materials.
  • May confer with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.
  • May set up machines and equipment.
  • Takes the initiative to greet guests in a friendly and warm manner.
  • Reports to work for scheduled shift, on time and in uniform in accordance with company policy.
  • Knows and complies with all company policies and procedures pertaining to this position and its duties.

Education & Experience:

  • Certificate from a Vocational Institution and completion of apprenticeship in HVAC, plumbing and electrical repair preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience in the maintenance field and three years’ experience in the plumbing, electrical and painting trades, pools/spas (if applicable) OR an equivalent level of education and experience preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and proof of vehicle insurance required.


Hours:

  • Position requires flexibility to work adjusted schedule, including nights and weekends as needed. Responsible for responding to emergencies as necessary, requiring the possibility of response times occurring on nights and/or weekends.


Physical Requirements of the Position:

  • Heavy work. Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

  • Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, picking/pinching with fingers, typing, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, repetitive motion.


Visual Acuity Requirements:

  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes.
  • Visual acuity to operate motor vehicles and/or heavy equipment.
  • Visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned (i.e., custodial, food services, general laborer, etc.) or to make general observations of facilities or structures.


Environmental Conditions:

  • Subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.
  • Subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
  • May require occasional work in close quarters, crawl spaces, small enclosed rooms, and other areas that could cause claustrophobia.
  • May be required to function in narrow aisles or passageways.
