Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

· Champions Company and Division customer service programs to meet or exceed Division customer service goals. Handles customer relations in a positive manner, including effective resolution of customer complaints. Promotes Albertson’s philosophy of personalized service.

· Operates checkstand equipment such as cash register, printer, scanner and scale to process customer orders. Engages in suggestive selling and other sales techniques and bags customer orders.

· Handles monetary transactions including cash, checks, charges, coupons, gift cards, travelers’ checks, food stamps, WIC vouchers, issuing rainchecks and handling refunds. Counts cash register till and is accountable for its contents. Communicates over in-store intercom.

· Implements all Company policies and legal requirements for the sale of merchandise, including but not limited to sale of tobacco and alcohol, use of WIC vouchers, associate purchases, refunds, handling customer complaints, shoplifting and loss prevention.

· Responsible for staying current on product location, new products, sales and promotions, monitoring UPC codes and ensuring a safe and secure work area.

· Controls shrink. Prevents the sale of out of code product.

· Responsible for keeping checkstand area clean, neat and properly stocked and for ensuring a safe and secure work area.

· Performs other duties as required or directed, such as go backs, stocking, cleaning, carts retrieval, pricing and rotating merchandise.

· Responsible for performing all job duties accurately, safely and with honesty and integrity.

· Represents the store in a positive manner to customers and the public.

Skills and Physical Requirements:

· Ability to be friendly, courteous, tactful and to maintain composure in dealing with customers and co-workers.

· Must possess good oral communication skills. Ability to understand and follow instructions, deal with potentially difficult situations and be a team player. Ability to understand and accept instructions and to communicate with co-workers and the public.

· Frequently reaches, lifts, stacks and maneuvers objects of varying dimensions and weights up to approximately 55 lbs.

· Ability to do repetitious work accurately and operate checkstand equipment such as cash registers, scanners and scales.

· Ability to identify situations that may require immediate attention or intervention and to react according to company policies and procedures.

· Ability to stand or sit for long periods of time, walk rapidly, bend, stoop, twist and turn frequently. Manual dexterity and good eye-hand coordination are necessary.

· Ability to learn and memorize a consideration amount of information. Must possess mental alertness and basic mathematics skills.

· Ability to present a positive image to the public.

· Complies with all Company policies including safety, loss prevention, attendance, grooming standards and dress codes.

· May be required to work nights, weekends and holidays. Scheduled hours will vary. Good attendance is required.

Work Environment:

· Exposure to potential hazards exists with respect to equipment, tools and work aids necessary to perform job duties.

· Various work conditions consist of a temperature controlled store and an occasional outdoors environment.

The pay range is $15.84 to $21.15 per hour, but no less than the local minimum wage. Starting rates will vary based on things like location, experience, qualifications and the terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement. Dependent on length of service, hours worked and any applicable collective bargaining agreement, benefits include medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, sick pay (accrued based on hours worked), PTO/Vacation pay (accrued based on hours worked), paid holidays (between 7-9 days annually), bereavement pay, and retirement benefits (pension and/or 401k eligibility).
