Summary of Work


The Children and Family Services Unit provides Foster Care and In-Home case management to children under the custody of the zone, their families and to children remaining in home with parents. Overall case management includes initial and ongoing assessment/case plan development; coordinate and referral to services within the community; on-going legal proceedings; out-of-home placement of children; on call duties and working closely with community partners in efforts to keep children safe. Comprehensive knowledge of applicable state and federal laws and state policy are necessary for the position.


These services are directed toward the goal of helping individuals attain self-sufficiency; prevent/reduce abuse/neglect; preparation for independence and preservation and reunification of families. Children and Family Services unit provides protective services to children under the age of 18 and programming for youth aging out of foster care to prepare for adulthood. This is all accomplished by maintaining confidentiality, treating clients with dignity and respect, and protecting their constitutional and civil rights.


Three Rivers Human Service Zone serves Morton, Grant and Sioux Counties. The home office is in Mandan with all counties covered. The Zone provides a friendly and flexible work environment. Ongoing training and education are a strong foundation of our group. We work closely with the school and community providers in our area and throughout the state. Minimum Qualifications


Social Worker III - Minimum Education & Experience
Requires licensure as a Licensed Bachelor Social Worker (LBSW) by the North Dakota Board of Social Work Examiners; and two years of professional human services work experience as a social worker or human relations counselor, developmental disabilities case manager, mental illness case manager, vocational rehabilitation counselor, activity therapist, addiction counselor, registered nurse, employment counselor, or a similar professional level position in the public or private sector; OR a master’s degree in social work and licensure as a Licensed Social worker (LSW) by the ND Board of Social Work Examiners.
