College Achieve Public Schools (CAPS) is looking for a Human Resources Business Manager to act as the chief people person and oversee all things related to Teacher and Staff Culture, Recruiting and Retention, Training and Development and Planning for Change. Position Summary

The Human Resources Business Manager reports to the Chief Talent Officer and is responsible for leading the human capital strategy across the College Achieve network of schools, including but not limited to leading initiatives to improve recruiting and hiring, employee relations and culture building, educator and administrator development and support. The Human Resources Business Manager will help support and implement our strategic plan initiatives through his/her analysis, data-driven approach, and operational mindset. The Human Resources Business Manager provides guidance to operations staff members who are responsible for payroll, hiring applications, onboarding and off-boarding staff, teacher credentialing, benefits management, paid time off and leaves, making recommendations regarding personnel policies, managing personnel records in the appropriate information systems, answering HR questions from staff, and all aspects of HR compliance.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Strategize with our executive team to drive a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Own all aspects of the employee lifecycle including overseeing recruiting, hiring, onboarding and managing talent, paying special attention to developing and directing a College Achieve teacher pipeline program in a teacher shortage market while prioritizing recruiting and hiring and retaining faculty and staff of color.
  • Establish programs, strategies and processes related to compensation and benefit packages, staffing, performance management, employee engagement, talent management/ organizational development and employee relations in order to meet organizational objectives.
  • Proactively assess and improve upon organizational communication channels from a company-wide level to manager / employee and peer-to-peer relations.
  • Build strong relationships within the organization through thought leadership, coaching, mentoring, conflict resolution and people advocacy.
  • Ensure all certificated staff receive the appropriate mentoring required for credentialing.
  • Serve as a liaison to external organizations to create partnerships to further CAPS’ personnel goals.
  • Ensure accurate and timely implementation and work cooperatively with staff on federal and state leave requests such as, Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and New Jersey Family Leave Act and other return to work issues
  • Establish, refine and maintain employment policies and practices that comply with federal and state regulations.
  • Liaise with vendors to ensure information systems meet the needs of the Network.
  • Ensure all employees complete federal and state mandated trainings, as well as organize trainings for internal information systems.
  • Collaborate with the executive team on all employee-related CAPS events, retreats, training courses and volunteer opportunities.

Your Qualifications

  • Experience in staff recruiting, HR administration, managing and implementing HR processes.
  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Human Resources. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Accessible and effective in dealing with people at all levels in the organization.
  • Knowledgeable and up to date on all federal and state regulations with reference to employee guidelines.
  • Bonus points if you have HR experience in the education sector and specifically charter organizations.
