Camp Cook (seasonal) Job at Camp Ho Mita Koda Foundation
Camp Ho Mita Koda is a coed summer camp for kids and teens with Type 1 Diabetes. Located in Newbury, Ohio, our overnight camp welcomes boys and girls in grades K-11 for one-week sessions. Founded in 1929, Camp Ho Mita Koda is the very first and oldest operating summer camp in the country for kids with T1D!
The Dining Service Manager, Camp Cook, and Kitchen Assistant all serve on part of the Dining Service Team. Over the course of a season, these dynamic and engaging positions have the opportunity to work with a wide range of groups and campers.
General responsibilities include:
- Assist in the daily operations of the camp’s food service.
- Prepare and cook food as the menu indicates utilizing frying, boiling, broiling, steaming, roasting of meat, poultry, seafood, fish, vegetables, salads, soups, and gravies.
- Prepare foods including washing and peeling.
- Bake breads, pastries, muffins, etc.
- Store food and leftovers at proper temperatures
- Assist in routine sanitation of the kitchen and related equipment.
- Clean and maintain all food-preparation and storage areas.
All food, lodging, laundry, utilities, training, etc. are included in the overall compensation package for these seasonal positions.
