BUSINESS IMMIGRATION PARALEGAL

Seeking a special person who loves PERM and business immigration work.

We are offering a flexible, fully-remote, work-from-home opportunity for a highly-motivated, team-oriented individual in a high-volume environment. The Business Immigration Paralegal must have in-depth knowledge and experience with a broad range of business immigration filings. Applicants must have expertise in drafting and filing consular applications as well as PERM applications, as well as being highly skilled in technology, detail-orientated, exercise sound judgment, and possess strong administrative, organizational and interpersonal skills while prioritizing and managing multiple assignments.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Preparation of PERM related forms and filings with the Department of Labor ;
  • Preparation and submission of consular applications and establishing appointments at consular posts;
  • Drafting forms and letters for visa applications and petitions, certification applications, and other immigrant and non-immigrant related filings;
  • Communicates with clients on matters associated with immigration filings;
  • Gathers appropriate evidence to support immigration filings;
  • Conducts quality assurance review of immigration filings;
  • Maintains computer databases and monitors reports related to caseload management of immigration matters;
  • Assembles application and petition packages and files with USCIS or other appropriate agency;
  • Monitors immigration related publications and web sites for news and trends and communicates findings to the practice group keeping important items in electronic files;
  • Conducts research via internet and hard copy sources of information, keeping important items in electronic files;
  • Assists in Form I-9 compliance audits;
  • Assists in the training of new team members;
  • Prepares case management reports as requested. Provides general assistance to department attorneys;
  • Accurately and completely records billable time spent and tasks performed in accordance with firm policy and client-imposed billing protocols; enter and release time promptly in compliance with the firm’s announced deadlines.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have 3-5 years of experience supporting business immigration attorneys as a paralegal.
  • College degree or completion of a paralegal program preferred.
  • At least one year of experience with case management system preferred (LawLogix).
  • At least three years of experience with consular applications and PERM filings with the Department of Labor preferred.
  • Must have in-depth knowledge of the basic business non-immigrant visas (H-1B, L-1, E, H-2, TN, B-1, O-1, and P) and employment based immigrant visa processes (EB-1 extraordinary ability, outstanding professor/researcher, multinational manager; EB-2 NIW; EB-2 and EB-3 PERM, and I-485 filings); H-2B experience is a plus.
  • Experience working on Form I-9 compliance and audit matters preferred.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft business applications (e.g., Word, Excel, and Outlook) and PDF editing is essential.
  • Must have highly developed skills in time and task management with the ability to manage multiple priorities and respond to urgent requests with minimal supervision.
  • Must be detail-oriented and work with an extremely high degree of accuracy.
  • Effectively able to prioritize cases, caseload and other assigned tasks (i.e., projects, reports, case management responsibilities, etc.).
  • Embrace challenges and detail as well as creative thinking.
  • Must have excellent writing and oral communication skills.
  • Must have exceptional interpersonal and client service skills, as well as the ability to handle stressful situations in a calm, composed manner.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, service environment.
  • Flexibility to work overtime if necessary.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with lawyers, clients and office personnel.
  • Ability to execute and work well with minimal supervision.
