Business Analyst Technical Writer
The Business Analyst Technical Writer will produce high-quality documentation and guides for both business departments and information technology. This documentation will include business processes, architectural diagrams, application integrations, best practices, policies, and guidelines. You will collaborate with the systems administrators, application architects and developers, project managers, business analysts, and department leaders to produce a variety of tailored content to ensure our software solutions, integrations, and operational procedures are documented for ease of use and adaptability.
This role will act as: Writer, editor, planner, creative thinker, user advocate, and data analyst! You will approach problems with creativity, curiosity, and the ability to apply an analytical perspective. You will work to build consensus, learn quickly, explore both simple and technical topics, meet tight deadlines, think and collaborate cross-departmentally. The Business Analyst Technical Writer will dive into the details yet write with totality and always have the bigger picture in mind. You will display confidence and competency in your work, yet listen to others, always keeping what’s best for the business in mind. This role develops or contributes to solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity.
Responsibilities
  • Determines the most straightforward and logical way to present information.
    • Craft clear and accurate communications that enable customers to understand impact and path after product solutions implementations.
  • Generates innovative ideas for content and workflow solutions.
    • Apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help support the business process re-engineering processes.
  • Meets with subject-matter experts to ensure complex technical topics are appropriately addressed.
    • Retrieve data from different sources and individuals to identify the scope and breadth of communication gaps, analyze and evaluate the data, and to write collaborative and researched solutions proposals.
    • Work with stakeholders to define requirements while gathering and writing them for large enterprise applications including visual mock-ups, use cases, or user stories.
  • Analyzes information required for developing or updating project documents, technical content, policies, procedures, and other documentation.
    • Writes and helps implement documentation plans for major components of a project to meet deliverable requirements or schedules.
    • Ensure that project deliverables are met according to design specifications & user requirements.
  • Produces a major portion of a complex documentation set (i.e., design and architectural diagrams, user guides, business process workflows) that complies with documentation plan requirements.
    • Develops and tests complex user scenarios (use cases) that show how to use the product being documented. Manage executive-level documentation, reports, whitepapers, proposals, and briefings.
  • May instruct others in writing styles (e.g., reference guides, user guides, solutions books, online). Proofread, edit, and correct text for style and accuracy, including readability, consistency, and tone.
  • Interact with technical staff and translate technical information into business impact and value.
    • Discuss technical details and solve problems with engineers and stakeholders.
Job Requirements
Minimum Experience, Skills, and Education
  • 5 years of work-related experience required.
  • Able to accomplish objectives that span multiple products or subject areas and possess proactive and strategic problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent writing and analytical skills.
  • Ability to participate in planning and design discussions and contribute to a project from end to end with minimal supervision.
  • Strong business analysis skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to combine technical expertise with technical communication.
  • Demonstrated interest in, and knowledge of, broad but related areas of technology and retail software solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to oversee complex documentation.
  • Ability to work under deadline pressure, able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Knowledge Management, including document management and retention best practices.
Physical Requirements
With or Without Accommodations
  • May sit or stand at a workstation for up to 8 hours using computers, phones, and office equipment.
  • Routinely handles paperwork, materials, collateral and other printing supplies and deliverables.
  • Occasionally needs to lift and/or transport up to 30 pounds of boxes, printed materials, or various items short distances, to and from the normal workstation.
  • Occasionally needs to stand or walk short distances to areas that are not immediately accessible from the workstation, such was printers, mailroom, and meeting rooms.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision (at 20 inches or less), distance vision (at 20 feet or more), color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
  • The work environment is a typical climate-controlled office environment.
  • The workplace may be partly remote, which will be confirmed upon hire.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
