Description of Position
The University on-campus bookstore that provides textbooks for scheduled classes and retail items for sale. The Bookstore Manager is responsible for the administration of the entire bookstore and the supervision of its employees. This position is a full-time, exempt personnel position and reports to the Vice President for Financial Affairs.



Essential Functions

  • Market and promote the bookstore on and off campus
  • Supervise and cross-train bookstore employees in all processes
  • Coordinate online bookstore, inventory control, and maintain website
  • Oversee the operating budgets of the bookstore and inventory management system
  • Sustain trusted relationships with vendors
  • Accurately record purchase orders and supplies
  • Arrange store displays and floor space
  • Performs other duties as assigned


Requirements
Required

  • Associates degree or equivalent of one to three (1-3) years of sales management experience
  • Positive and strong, proven leadership
  • Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to promote a positive, professional environment
  • Strong team-building skills, with ability to be flexible
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in oral and written forms
  • High degree of organizational and creative problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated competence with Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work while standing for extended periods of time, including the ability to lift overhead, bend, and twist
  • The University requires that all candidates be Christians (preferably in the Wesleyan tradition), and must be comfortable with, in agreement with, and able to represent the mission and lifestyle values of NNU to all constituencies


Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in sales, marketing, or related field
  • Supervisory experience (at least 3-5 years)
  • Experience in book/retail store operations
  • Knowledge of Shopify (inventory management system)


Compensation
Salary will be determined by the educational background and experience of each applicant. Full-time personnel will be offered a benefits package including health, vision, and dental insurance for employee and family, annual leave, long-term disability insurance, life insurance, holidays, tuition benefits for employee and dependents, and a retirement program.
