TITLE: BOOKSTORE ASSISTANT

CALENDAR: BOOKSTORE ASSISTANT - 2171

SALARY: GRADE 109


Job Goal:

Perform a variety of clerical services, following standardized procedures, in an assigned area


Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to operate standard business machines including cash register, 10-key calculator and computer terminal
  • Ability to work well with students, staff, parents and general public
  • Good human relation skills
  • Satisfactory criminal background check Core Job Functions:
  • Assist bookstore manager with daily tasks, including:
  • Handling of monies from extracurricular and student activities and fund-raising projects, including preparing and depositing cash deposits
  • Reconciliation of daily cash receipts to cash register transactions
  • Receiving, identifying, issuing, collecting and taking inventory of all textbooks and supplies
  • Selling and accounting for bookstore supplies and class fees
  • Preparation of cash boxes for use at extracurricular activities and events
  • Perform a wide variety of clerical tasks including typing, filing, coding, preparing reports
  • Maintain the confidentiality of protected student and staff member information even after no longer employed
  • Be flexible and perform other duties relating to general job function as assigned by supervisor
  • Accept responsibility for student well being and safety while they are in employee's care § Follow district policies as outlined § Respond to all internal and external customers, as it relates to position, in a prompt, efficient, friendly and patient manner
  • Work with a large cross section of people in a professional and non-judgmental manner
  • Share sensitive student and staff information on a need to know basis

  • Establish and maintain courteous, cooperative working relationships with students, staff and parents
  • Be flexible and adaptable to change
  • Operate and care for school districts' equipment properly
