Position Summary

Assists with research projects including computational data analysis and documentation of experimental results for a large and diverse lab in the field of neuroimmunology. In addition to investigating homeostatic function, common datasets requiring analysis are focused on aging, Alzheimer’s Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, or Parkinson’s Disease, in both mice and human samples. Will collaborate on projects requiring multitasking and be required to assist in experimental design and guidance on statistical analyses. A strong work ethic and passion for the science will help in excelling in this role.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assists research studies with implementation of: existing algorithms and computer software and coordinates activities of other investigators and institutions with data collection/entry and transmission and responsible for data verification. data management and analysis solutions that assist in storage, investigation and dissemination of large data sets.
  • Works with research team to develop new algorithms to support studies.
  • Assists with reporting of methods, data and results.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Analytical, reasoning and problem-solving skills.
  • Good understanding of computational biology.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret large complex data sets, and to communicate data in a clear, concise manner.
  • Expertise in standard bioinformatics tools.
  • Experience with single-cell mRNA sequencing analysis.
  • Experience with Docker.
  • Strong data organization skills.
  • A desire to investigate the biological world of neuroimmunology.
  • Proficiency in R and/or Python or the desire to learn.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, bioinformatics, biostatistics, or related field required; OR combined education and experience of five years.

Salary Range

$16.24 - $27.63 / Hourly

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
