This position offers flexibility, variability in daily tasks, and full benefits for eligible positions! This is a community based location, working with clients for average of 3 to 6 months. Flexibility of work and environment from day to day. Must be 18 years old.

Job Summary

Contributes to the care and safety of clients in the chemical dependency residence under the direction of the Alcohol and Drug Counselor. The Behavioral Health Technician monitors the safety and whereabouts of all residents in the facility. Observes and reports client behaviors to clinical staff. Directly interacts with patients and is available for patient support. Delivers and documents specific rehabilitative services to adult residents with substance use disorders. Implements interventions under the direction of licensed clinical staff. Implements independent living skills training with clients.

The Behavioral Health Technician provides opportunities for social and interpersonal skills development. Ensures that client daily tasks are complete. May provide transportation for residents, as needed. Under direction, participates in the admission process for clients and ensures that rooms are prepped at time of discharge for the next admission. Contributes to the overall cleanliness and appearance of the facility. Depending on setting, may be responsible for medication distribution.

Interventions that are in the treatment plan but outside the scope of practice for this role must be implemented by appropriately licensed clinical staff. Interventions outside the scope of the treatment plan require approval from the leadership team.

Qualifications

Must have good human relations and communication skills. Must be able to follow procedures and instructions given by the licensed nurse. Must be able to acquire a basic knowledge of patient care principles, medical terminology and equipment within the assigned service area.

Whether working in Minnesota or North Dakota, certification is preferred. If working in North Dakota and not a Certified Nursing Assistant, must be registered as a Nurse Assistant through the North Dakota Department of Health within four months from the date of initial employment. Certification is required if designated by law (i.e. Home Care). If applicable to position, may require a valid class D driver's license and good driving record.
