*_Summary:_*

Performs the functions of a bartender in an upscale dining atmosphere, as well as a variety of dining service functions including maintaining clean, sanitary and organized conditions of dining areas, facilities and equipment. May assist in some aspects of food preparation. Upholds the philosophy, core values and goals of the organization and ensures the Christian Mission of Lutheran Senior Services is realized so that “Older Adults Live Life to the Fullest”.

*_Essential Duties and Responsibilities:_*

Serve drinks to guests based on recipes in computer software.

Serve 16 or more guests at a time; Recall orders upon request by guest.

Check products for quality and correct any problems that may prevent a guest from enjoying their visit.

Perform defined work routines, using various dining service utensils, supplies and equipment as assigned.

Keeping a well-stocked bar with adequate supply of liquor, beer, wine, mixers, ice, napkins, straws, glassware, and other accessories. Also maintaining inventory par levels and notifying supervisor of needs.

Collecting money for drinks served and providing change as needed.

Checking identification to verify legal age requirements for all customers following State and local laws. Provide excellent customer services that promotes satisfaction and is reflective of an upscale dining experience.

Take and serve food/beverage orders timely and appropriately that is reflective of an upscale dining experience.

Greet customers with courtesy and friendliness, making quick decisions to address dissatisfied customers when needed.

Know all details of the menu including description, which items contain allergens, and able to describe to guest how each items is prepared and cooked.

Make recommendations or share additional information with customers regarding the menu.

Assist with any and all aspects for dining service set-up, including dining room and tables/placings set-up, stocking buffets and serve station, preparing beverages, salads and desserts and other food items as instructed and in accordance with recipes, and assistance at catering events, as well as covering for the Hostess to seat residents.

Assist in receiving and storing food and supplies, ensuring all foods are served at proper temperatures and on time.

Assist with any and all aspects of clean-up to ensure all dining service areas are maintained in accordance with policies and standards by completing daily cleaning duties, busing tables, sweeping, mopping and vacuuming, washing dishes, removing trash, stocking and storing items correctly and keeping all dining service work areas clean.

*_Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:_*

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

  • One year of bartending experience preferred
  • High School diploma or GED desired or in process
  • Must be 21 years of age
  • Ability to read, understands and follows recipe instructions, diet orders, resident preference cards, and work assignments.
  • This position will show a willingness to perform routine, repetitive tasks with frequent interruptions.
  • Must be patient and tolerant toward staff, residents, and family members.
  • Ability to develop constructive working and interpersonal relationships with colleagues and customers
  • Problem solving and decision making skills
  • Service orientation and excellent organizational skills
  • Active listening and effective communication competencies
  • Must have or be willing to receive a hepatitis A vaccine prior to beginning work, if working within St. Louis County.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $14.00 - $16.00 per hour
