Bar Manager

We’re looking for someone to oversee our bar team and manage the bar stock, delivering beverages to members of a private yacht club over the summer season at a beautiful location on Cape Cod with magnificent ocean and harbor views. You are friendly, outgoing, and will have no trouble fitting into the casual and unique environment of a private fun-loving club. You enjoy working in a team, have an enthusiastic positive attitude, and have a good understanding of restaurant operations. You will work directly with the Restaurant Manager to ensure consistent and timely delivery of beverages to club members. This role will require mastery of the restaurant’s beverage program and will include general bartender shifts as well. You will be required to manage a team of bartenders as well as carrying out general bartending duties.

Working hours will be between 3:30PM and 11:30PM six days per week, with an occasional requirement for overtime to support special events and functions.

Responsibilities

  • Tend bar and manage a team of bartenders to deliver beverages to members of a private club
  • Willing and able to take on general bartender responsibilities (see below)
  • Be highly knowledgeable about beers, wines, spirits, and liqueurs
  • Manage inventory of beers, wines, and liqueurs including ordering, selecting and storing
  • Good understanding of POS systems
  • Determine bar staffing needs and support recruiting, hiring, onboarding, training, scheduling and performance reviews for bar team
  • Conduct pre-shift meetings with bar staff to prepare for service
  • Oversee bar display to maximize functionality and attractiveness
  • Reconcile the bar till every night

Bartender Responsibilities

  • Makes drinks for the whole restaurant
  • Monitors alcoholic consumption in accordance with TIPS
  • Serves customers at the bar
  • Supports team when needed
  • Prepare beverages for bar and restaurant patrons while controlling pour costs
  • Interact with customers and make recommendations based on preferences
  • Check identification and verify age requirements
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the bar and restock inventory as needed
  • Keep a pulse on trends in the beverage industry
  • Respond quickly to the needs of restaurant and bar staff
  • Support bar manager in taking guest orders
  • Ensure the bar is stocked with glassware, garnishes and product at all times
  • Change kegs, stock wine and spirits, refill juices and syrups
  • Keep bar top and back bar clean throughout service, wiping any spills or discarding waste immediately
  • Prepare mixes and garnishes
  • Wash and polish glassware throughout shift

Qualifications

  • TIPS certified
  • Experience with inventory management
  • 2+ years of food, beverage and service experience
  • 1+ year of management experience
  • 1+ year of proven experience as a bartender
  • High school and bartending school diploma required
  • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds
