Are you interested in making a difference? Well Seneca Family of Agencies is looking to hire an Awake Overnight Mental Health Counselor!


As an Awake Overnight Mental Health Counselor, you will support youth ages 0-17 between the hours of 11pm and 9am at the Welcoming Center. As a counselor will provide a safe and nurturing environment for youth that come into the program. You will also assist the Master's level clinician with case management and engage the youth in therapeutic activities to build rapport and support stabilization. You will also support the team in ensuring the basic needs of the youth are being met as they enter the facility.


The Welcoming Center is a home-like receiving center that supports children and youth as they navigate the challenges that come with placement disruption. Our multi-disciplinary team provides safety, care, comfort, and therapeutic supports for up to 24 hours.

The Welcoming Center serves young people in Santa Clara County who:
Have just been removed from their home | Are returning from elopement | Otherwise experience a loss in placement

New arrivals are met with empathetic and well-trained therapists and counselors who provide a calm, stable environment while their individualized needs are assessed and placement is secured.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist clinician in intake process and create a welcoming environment for the youth.
  • Must stay up all night and do bed checks on clients every 15 -30 minutes.
  • Assess and meet basic needs for youth as they enter the Welcoming Center and through the duration of their stay
  • Organize and engage children in fun and therapeutic activities and projects designed for a variety of age and ability levels.
  • Intervene with the clients’ behavior as needed, providing stabilization services.
  • Work in coordination with parents and social workers as treatment team members
  • Provide supervision for calls and visits with family when necessary
  • Maintain accurate documentation and paperwork including, but not limited to, daily mental health notes, incident reports, time sheets, petty cash, and mileage
  • Provide on-call response as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Qualifications:
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Education/Experience requirements:
    • Bachelor's degree OR
    • 60 College units (Associates Degree) with completed 18 units in behavioral sciences and one year of relevant experience OR
    • High school diploma with 15 college units (1 semester) including 1 course in behavioral sciences and two years of relevant experience.
  • Own vehicle, valid California Driver’s License and insurance.
  • Fulfillment of TB test, fingerprinting and any other mandatory state/federal clearance.
  • Proof of Covid-19 vaccination and booster
PREFERRED
  • Bilingual English/Spanish or English/Vietnamese highly preferred
Schedule:
  • Full time
  • Sun from 7pm to 7am. Mon, Tue and Wed from 11pm to 8am
Benefits:
  • Starting at $26.50 - $29.00 per hour. Actual salary is dependent on creditable experience above the minimum qualifications for the role.
