The list of engineering responsibilities will include, but is not limited to, the below listed items.

Must have automotive assembly experience.

  • Provide manufacturing engineering leadership throughout a new model development program
  • Implementation of new Production Equipment, Operator Workstations, and Facilities based on product and process changes
  • Support manufacturing assembly builds (DCV, EPT, TT, PP, MP1 and MP2). During build events: 12 hour shifts will be required; night shift support will be required; weekend support on alternating weekends will be required.
  • Compile and distribute daily metrics files in standard night letter format and Excel list format
  • Identify and drive resolution of manufacturing related issues (i.e. AIMS, VIMS). AIMS and VIMS metrics should be reported daily to the VOME launch supervisor.
  • Interface with cross-functional activities (PD, STA, MP&L, NMP, Product Specialists, etc.).
  • Write/modify/maintain process sheets as required post <FDJ>.
  • Lead assembly tooling installation, start-up, and commissioning at the assembly site. In addition, support tooling buy-off at the tooling vendor facility. During install and commissioning: 12-hour shifts will be required; night shift support will be required; weekend support on alternating weekends will be required.
  • Lead pre-build validation events for the DCV Build at NMPDC
  • Assist in preparation of management reviews and data collection to support the presentation.
  • Drive quality, cost and labor improvements during the launch process.
  • Support plant acceleration throughput during the launch through identification and resolution of constraints including documentation lead for daily acceleration throughput report.
  • PFMEA/SCCAF updates and maintenance based on physical build events.
  • WERS Concern Resolution (CR) resolution including tooling and labor investment costs. This is post P-Release.
  • Support Error Proofing (EP) installation as required.
  • Complete preventive maintenance planning – Ensure M-tasks documentation completed per GVOSS requirements. This applies to all new tooling for the launch.
  • Complete spare parts documentation. Ensure industrial material documentation completed per GVOSS requirements. This applies to all new tooling for the launch.
  • Ensure all new tooling and processes meet ergonomic guidelines.


Reporting Structure


The Launch Support Manufacturing Engineer will report to the Vehicle Operations Program Implementation Supervisor for Final Assembly. The engineer must demonstrate manufacturing expertise as well as operating procedures related to Safety and Ergonomics. All program deliverables will be reviewed as required with the on-site Vehicle Operations Program Implementation Supervisor.


Preferred Experience Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
  • Strong computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Strong verbal, written and presentation skills.
  • Working knowledge of statistics (control charts, data collection, etc.).
  • Ability to work in stressful situations within timing constraints.
  • Ability to resolve problems in a timely manner and escalate hard rocks
  • Ability to be self-motivated (minimal direct supervision).
  • Experience with production tooling, processes and facilities desired.

  • Experience with Failure Mode Avoidance principles required
