JOB SUMMARY
The purpose of the position is to design and implement automation engineering projects in the area of assignment, inclusive of safety, mechanical, electrical, electronics, software application, quality and automation integration.
The Automation Engineer reviews and analyzes project requirements, specifications, and plan. The automation engineer defines the automation functional specification including all areas of equipment integration, safety, and quality requirements.
Position is responsible for the identification of automation suppliers, design of automation equipment to ensure stipulated specification, process and quality parameters, and successful installation at Jabil site. Jabil policy and procedures for engineering and automation will be implemented for all projects. Position supports JPS automation site needs and the divisional technology team, project management, product development, quality and safety. Travel to supplier and Jabil sites is required for project implementations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Designs automation equipment and production lines to meet product and project specifications.
  • Identifies automation improvement areas for improved production and reduced cost.
  • Works closely with Project Manager/Engineer to meet project timeline and within budget.
  • Reviews, understands and interprets requirements/specification accurately for integration into design of equipment.
  • Ensures design for manufacturability.
  • Acts as liaison with internal and/or external Assemblers/manufacturer of equipment to ensure all parts are manufactured to the design.
  • Works with suppliers to generates design drawings, installation manual, and user manuals. Works with sites to coordinate all required knowledge transfer and training from suppliers for long term production success.
  • Develops required documentation for Automation project implementation.
  • Ensures all engineering times are logged into tracking system correspondent to the projects.
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS - KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
  • Experienced functional knowledge of controls, mechanical, electronics, electrical, software application engineering.
  • Experienced functional knowledge of Packaging, Food and Beverage and Home/Professional products industries.
  • Experienced functional knowledge of automation equipment, robotics, molding, integration and installation.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • B.Sc. in Mechanical, Electronics/Electrical, or Automation Engineering
  • Minimum 3-5 years of working experiences in automation equipment design and installation.
  • Or an equivalent combination of education, training or experience.

Travel is required for automation equipment factory acceptance testing and installations. Additional travel may be required to support successful automation implementations.
