Authorizations Supervisor

Supervises and coordinates the staff and daily operations of the Revenue department to ensure proper registration, verification, authorization, billing, and collection of patient services. The authorizations supervisor will help AR Specialists processes clinical information in a timely manner to prevent treatment delays and to avoid denials from third party payers and maintains confidentiality of patient information.

Job Responsibilities

  • Promotes Financial Services department goals by selecting, motivating, training, and evaluating capable team members.
  • Leads the activities of assigned Revenue Services team members by communicating and providing guidance toward achieving department objectives.
  • Supervises daily operations and oversees the activities of verification, authorization, billing, and collection of patient services.
  • Acts as a primary liaison to all payors, patients, patient accounts, clinicians, and/or other practice areas; ensures proper billing and follow-up; collaborates with the Patient Accounts to optimize billing flow.
  • Prioritizes requests for assistance in order of importance and completes tasks in a timely manner to prevent avoidable delays
  • Discusses options with payers and providers regarding patient registration and medical necessity based on benefits available to meet those needs.
  • Advises management of systemic issues and high risk/high exposure situations; recommends solutions; develops and implements policies and procedures to facilitate registration, verification, authorization, billing, and collection activities to maximize operational efficiency.
  • Ensures performance evaluations are completed in a timely manner, trains new employees on departmental policies and procedures, as well as processes and systems
  • Informs staff of changes in policies, procedures, processes, and systems, as well as new insurance regulations.
  • Maintains daily workflow in order to expedite processing while ensuring quality care and customer service.
  • Maintains attendance, payroll records, and processing of time-off requests.
  • Performs related duties as required. All responsibilities noted here are considered essential functions of the job under the Americans with Disabilities Act

Experience & Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Associate degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • 1-5 years of experience with Revenue services.
  • Working knowledge of co-pay and out of pocket expenses from an insurance perspective
  • Working knowledge of CPT codes and Diagnostic Codes
  • Neuro/ EMG EKG and Epidurals authorization not required but preferred
  • Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and Outlook) and Internet
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information

Job Type: Full-Time; Hybrid after training is completed; Monday- Friday 7:30am-4:00pm

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
