The Nightingale-Bamford School seeks a full time associate director of athletics, to direct the Middle School athletics program (grades 5-8) for the 2023-2024 school year. This position’s primary focus will be the oversight and management of the Middle School athletics program and to assist the director of athletics and physical education in managing and overseeing various operational functions of the athletic program. This position reports to the Director of Athletics and Physical Education. This is a full time, 12 month, exempt position and will start on July 1, 2023.

The ideal candidate have exemplary collaborative skills, superior teamwork capacity, enthusiasm and love of athletics and belief in the important role they play in students’ lives.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but are not limited to):

  • Responsible for directing and overseeing the middle school athletics program
  • Scheduling practices and games
  • Assisting the director of athletics and physical education in budgeting for uniforms, facility rentals and coaching, at the middle school level
  • Creating a middle school athletics program handbook
  • Coach a middle school and or upper school team(s)
  • Onboarding new middle school coaches
  • Evaluating and mentoring coaches; reviewing team splits
  • Collaborating with middle school administrators to help expand athletics off the courts and fields in the middle school
  • Acting as the athletic board coordinator of the middle school
  • Working with members of the athletics department to ensure the efficient running of athletics operations including but not limited to:
    • Team transportation & student permissions
    • Athletics team registration process
    • Reviewing rosters for student athlete eligibility
    • Uniform and equipment inventory
  • Managing, AAIS, & NYSAIS score reporting
  • Serving as the site director for AAIS/NYSAIS tournament events
  • Assisting with team spirit stores
  • Participating in associate, grade level, division, and school-wide meetings as needed
  • Getting involved in other responsibilities as assigned by director of athletics and physical education

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree
  • Three or more years of related experience in athletics administration and a thorough understanding of athletic facilities and programs
  • Experience in coaching a sport for middle and/or upper school aged athletes
  • Excellent attention to detail, professional attitude, good judgment, a high level of integrity and a strong work ethic
  • Flexibility and initiative combined with the skills for thriving in a team environment to achieve departmental and institutional goals.
  • Must have excellent organizational and follow-up skills
  • Must be able to set priorities, run programs independently and display excellent judgment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to effectively present ideas and concepts to groups of students, faculty members, or other members of the School community
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, verbally and in writing

SALARY RANGE

$85,000 - $110,000 depending on experience
