Associate Dean for Professional Development (Open to UNL Faculty Only) Job at University of Nebraska

The Office of Graduate Studies (OGS) is looking for a tenured member of the UNL graduate faculty to serve as the next Associate Dean for Professional Development. This key leadership role oversees a dynamic team of four full-time staff who provide professional development for current graduate students, professional students, and post-doctoral fellows at UNL, as well as coordinates orientation for new students. The Associate Dean also provides oversight for our pipeline to graduate school programs such as Summer Research Program.
OGS professional development programing includes numerous offerings such as training in teaching, teaching assistant workshops, Preparing Future Faculty, and CIRTL@Nebraska. Professional development staff members also provide workshops on topics of current interest, often in collaboration with graduate programs or colleges. Depending on time and interest, the Associate Dean may develop or deliver professional development programming themselves.
The Associate Dean serves on the OGS Leadership Team, contributing to the strategic direction and daily operations of the Office of Graduate Studies. There are opportunities to connect with peers in higher education and travel to BTAA and Council of Graduate Schools meetings.

Minimum Required Qualifications
  • Graduate Faculty member with tenure at UNL
  • Experience working with graduate and/or professional students and/or post-doctoral fellows.
  • At least one year academic administrative experience such as Graduate Committee Chair or program coordinator.
Preferred Qualifications
  • At least one year experience supervising staff or leading a team.
