Primary Objective of Position: Winnebago Industries is seeking a highly organized, motivated, and energetic attorney to join our team as Associate Corporate Counsel to manage litigation matters and provide support on commercial contracts and other general corporate matters. This position will report to the Assistant General Counsel and will play a critical role in partnering with the Winnebago Legal department as well as internal and external business stakeholders. This is a great opportunity for junior attorneys who wish to gain in-house experience.


Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Handle general litigation, pre-litigation claims, and all related matters.
  • Supervise and partner with outside counsel to ensure that all aspects of the company's legal representation are of the highest quality, including the day-to-day running of matters, overall strategy, written work, and oral advocacy.
  • Identify potential litigation risk and counsel the business to minimize exposure.
  • Support the company’s strategy for litigation and pre-litigation disputes.
  • Negotiate and draft various agreements and contracts on behalf of the company.
  • Offer counsel on a variety of legal issues.
  • Work alongside other departments within the company to address legal risks.
  • Provide training to the company on legal topics.
  • Other duties as assigned based on business need.


Qualifications and Skills


  • JD degree from an ABA accredited law school.
  • Admitted to practice in the State of Minnesota.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of litigation experience in a law firm or in-house legal department with a highly regarded firm or organization.
  • Experience working with product warranty and/or product liability highly preferred.
  • Strong negotiating skills with both legal and commercial issues.
  • Experience with drafting and negotiating contracts strongly preferred.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and drafting skills.
  • Must be detailed-oriented and organized, with the ability to multi-task.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to interact with executive officers and other senior management.
  • Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion, be adaptable to various competing demands, and meet deadlines while demonstrating the highest level of customer service and response.
  • Self-aware, self-motivated, self-confident individual who is comfortable operating with minimal direction and who thrives in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability and desire to learn new skills, while taking on new challenges to continue professional development.
